University of Hartford women’s basketball
reaches a worldwide audience with live game
broadcasts on the radio and Internet. WWUH
(91.3 FM, wwuh.org) is home to the Hawks
for the 15th consecutive season, with the full
schedule of games aired live. An increasing
number of listeners tune in each year via the
Internet, where both Real Player and Windows
Media Player audio streams are available.
Amy Lawrence begins her first year as the voice
of Hartford women’s basketball. Lawrence has
broadcast URI women’s basketball games for the
past three years. Providing color analysis, also
for the first year, will be Brian Irizarry. Irizarry
is the play-by-play voice for the Connecticut
Defenders, minor league baseball affiliate of
the San Francisco Giants. Women’s basketball
broadcasts are also available
at HartfordHawks.com, the
official web site of Hartford
athletics.
America East
The 2008-09 University of Hartford Media Guide has been
prepared to assist the media in covering Hartford basketball.
Press Passes: Requests for all home-game press passes, photographers’ passes, and broadcasting rights must be obtained
at least two days in advance of the game by calling (860)
768-4501. Credentials may be picked up beginning 90
minutes before each home contest at a press table located
in Coughlin Lobby of the Reich Family Pavilion. Spaces will
be provided at press row for all working media.
Statistical Services: Pregame press information, complete
halftime and final statistics, and typed play-by-play will be
provided. Pregame items can be picked up in the newly constructed team room, located behind sections 106, 107, 108,
109, 110. Telephones can also be available to the working
media after the game.
Player of the Game: For the third season, the America East
will be announcing a Player of the Game for both teams
following each home game. Media will be asked to assist in
the voting for Players of the Game.
Radio: The University of Hartford will make available one
radio line per game to all opponents. The line will be an active
campus extension connected to a jack outlet. Those using the
lines must either use a credit card or receive an incoming call.
A flat fee of $100 per-line per-game needs to be received
prior to broadcast. A station failing to pay the rights fee will
not be allowed to go on the air.
Refreshments: Soft drinks and light food will be available
in the press room one hour prior to game time.
Parking: Reserved media parking will not be provided for
games played at the Sports Center. All media should park
in M lot, located directly behind the facility.
Interviews: All requests for coach and player interviews must
be directed through the Hartford Athletics Communications
Office, including all contact with coaches and players after
all games. A formal media press conference will be held following all home games. The location of the press conference
will be the newly constructed team room, located behind
sections 106, 107, 108, 109, 110. There will be a mandatory 10-minute cooling off period following each home game
before media representatives will be allowed to speak to
any players.
Courtside Phone: A courtside
phone will be available in case of
an emergency. The normal use of
the phone will be limited to sports
information business. That phone
number is (860) 768-5042.
