It is the responsibility of the user to confirm the design shown meets all local requirements and some
jurisdictions require this review be done by a registered Professional Engineer.
Caution: If you are not sure the measurements you are entering are accurate; do not use the software output
for ordering or cutting material.
This document will describe in basic detail how to use the ProBuilt™ Planner
1. On the ProBuilt™ Home Page www.probuiltrailings.com click on the ProBuilt™ Planner icon
located near the bottom left side of the home page (see example below)

2. You should now see the BWC ProBuilt Planner “Login Page”. Please ensure your computer
meets the minimum System Requirements:

(NB: This system will not work with any other browsers such as Mozilla, Firefox,
Opera,...)
Internet Access (High speed customers will have a better experience)

4. In this initial screen you will see a list of your previous projects / quotes. In the example
below we have not created any projects, so none are displayed. To create a new project
start by clicking on the Start New Project icon as shown below.

5. You will now see the screen below. To begin your new project give it a name and enter that
project name in the appropriate box (see below), then click on the Create icon when done.

6. With your project name and file started, the next step is to add the deck (the base on which
your railing will be set). To do this, simply click on Add New Deck as shown below.

7. Now you will need to fill in your default settings for railing type, railing color, railing height,
railing starting type and railing ending type using the drop down menus. These default
settings will remain for all railing sections you create on this deck. However, they can be
overridden if desired on a section by section basis. For example if you wished to use
straight pickets on the side railing sections and glass on the front railing section. Once you
have entered your default settings click Save Changes to store your settings.

8. You can now add a section to your deck. To start click Add New Section

You will create your railing section by section. Enter you railing section details length of section (in inches), direction of section (using the number system shown on the
compass), color of section and railing height of the section. Do not fill in the number of posts,
this will be calculated automatically by the system after filling in the other railing section details.
Once you have entered these details click Save Changes.

2. Continue for each section of railing until you have completed your project. Add railing
sections in a clockwise direction. Once you are satisfied with your railing layout click
Finish.

3. After clicking finish, it will take a few seconds for the program to calculate the bill of
materials for your project. Please be patient. Once the calculation is completed you will be
redirected to a page (similar to example below) with your railing specifications. The first tab
titled Completed Drawing is an aerial view of your railing project with its dimensions.

4. Then second tab, titled Bill of Materials shows a list of all ProBuilt materials required to
construct this railing project. It also shows your choosen color, cost and part number of the
components

5. The third tab, titled Cut List shows how the top and bottom rails should be cut, in inches.

6. The fourth tab, titles Construction Data indicates on a per railing section basis, how many
pickets should go into that section, and how far (in inches) from the post to start the first
picket for that section.
