Award, The CICAE Award for Best Film Berlin Film Festival, Jury Prize San Sebastian Film
Festival and The Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Film.

BRUCE HOLMES* (TOMMY) most recently appeared with FUSION as “Patsy” in The New Electric
Ballroom. He also appeared in the world premieres
of The Mayan Flute, You Can’t Get a Decent Margarita
at the North Pole, and Tennessee Williams’ Once in
a Lifetime. Previous FUSION roles include: “Felix
Humble” in Humble Boy, “Ross/Dan” in Clybourne
Park, Michael Novak” in God of Carnage, “Clown
2” in The 39 Steps, “Bill Fordham” in August: Osage
County, “Brother Timothy” in The Mandrake, “William
Detweiler” in How the Other Half Loves, “Ned” in Parlour Song, “Teddy” in The Homecoming, “Ben” in Death of a Salesman and
“Christy” in The Lieutenant of Inishmore. He also appeared in FUSION’s children’s tours of The Invention and The Lost Ending, as well as in Jen Silverman’s award-winning The Education of Macoloco (Samuel French OOB Festival, NYC). Bruce has also directed and acted in several annual productions of
FUSION’s The Seven: New Works Festivals. In Seattle, he worked at A.C.T.,
Center Stage, AHA!, N.W. Shakespeare Ensemble, and The Empty Space Theatre. Bruce has also performed with The Idaho Repertory Theatre and in Washington, D.C. he performed at Arena Stage and with the Washington Shakespeare
Theatre. In Virginia, Bruce appeared with The Metro Stage Theatre. Recent
film/tv credits include Better Call Saul, Night Shift, In Plain Sight, the feature
film Fright Night and the lead in Ultimatum Pictures’ Voiceover. He received his
BFA from the University of New Mexico and his MFA from the professional Actor’s Training Program at the University of Washington. Bruce has been a proud
member of the Actors’ Equity Association since 2005.
JOHN DENNIS JOHNSTON* (MAURICE) is making his FUSION debut. A native of Nebraska, he began
his professional acting career in Omaha in musical dinner theatre, then Off Off Broadway in NYC before moving to Chicago. Johnston originated roles in Chicago
at the Goodman (Winnebago) and The Ivanhoe (Italian
Straw Hat), in San Diego at the Old Globe (Dirt), at the
Arizona Theatre Co. (Minor Demons), and in Los Angeles
(All Good Horses, Land Line, The Downside Risk, 365,
and Jelly Role Shoes). He also performed at Milwaukee’s
Centre Stage in the Odd Couple and That Championship
Season. Johnston has been a “Guest Star” on over 100 TV shows and films over
his 40- year career. His screen credits include everything from episodes of Charlie’s
Angels, Dukes of Hazzard, Hill Street Blues and ER, to Without A Trace, Southland,
In Plain Sight and The Client List. John has been a proud member of the Actors’
Equity Association since 1973.
MICHAEL SAMUEL KAPLAN* (DOC) resides in
New York City and is making his FUSION debut. Recent
Off-Broadway and regional credits include: Red, Opus,
A Splintered Soul, Miss Julie, Intimate Apparel, A Christmas Carol, Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music,
The Government Inspector, Our Town, It’s A Wonderful
Life Radio Play and Those Learned Ladies, as well as the
American regional premieres of Oblomov, At A Loss,
Ants, God’s Ear and The History Boys. Television credits include Seinfeld, Saved by the Bell, Unsolved Mysteries and Law & Order. He has served as a resident artist at
Cornell University, and received his training at University of North Carolina School of
the Arts, Yale Drama School, American Conservatory Theatre and UCLA. Michael has
been a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association since 2001.
CAITLIN AASE † (AIMEE) Originally from New Mexico,
Caitlin relocated to Chicago in 2012 where she has appeared in several productions including: The Bacchae Revisited (Right Brain Project), Genius (Profiles Theatre), and The
Venetian Twins (Piccolo Theatre). Some of her favorite roles
include “Sylvia” (Tribes, FUSION), “Viola” (Twelfth Night),
“Juliet” (Romeo and Juliet), “Rosalind” (As You Like It), and
“Anissa” (The Veri**on Play). A graduate of Drew University
with a B.A. in Theatre Arts and French, she has also studied at
the London Dramatic Academy and The School for Theatre
Creators. Caitlin is a proud Equity Membership Candidate.
MATTHEW VAN WETTERING † (KENNETH) has
been acting on stage since age five and in film for the past
three years. He began his career at the Boles Theatre outside of Greenville, TX. Matthew studied Performance Theatre at the University of Wyoming. This past June he was
“Ray” in The Refrigerator, the Jury Award-winning play
in FUSION’s The Seven: Unfinished Business. In Albuquerque he has also worked at the Adobe Theatre, The Vortex,
Albuquerque Little Theatre, Desert Rose Playhouse, Aux
Dog and with Mother Road Theatre Company with roles
in God, Coming Attractions, All in the Timing, Offices, Is
Life Worth Living?, All My Sons, Pride and Prejudice, Traveling Companion, Tape, Jekyll
and Hyde the Musical, Pirates!, The Illusion, Cyrano, Last Night of Ballyhoo, Mousetrap,
Man From Earth and The Real Thing. Film/TV credits include: Longmire, The Night
Shift, Highly Functional, Gunslingers 2 and Manhattan. All his love and thanks to Rachel,
Joshua and Charlotte.

MARIA LEE SCHMIDT* (PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER) A native of New
Orleans, Maria graduated from USC in Los Angeles with a dual BA degree in Journalism and
Theatre. She stage-managed at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Mark Taper Forum, Westwood Playhouse (now The Geffen Playhouse), and other theatres in the L.A. area for many
years. Maria has made Albuquerque her home since 1993 and began stage-managing for
FUSION during its inaugural season in 2002. Maria has been a proud member of the Actors’
Equity Association since 1986.
BRENT STEVENS (SOUND DESIGNER) has been FUSION’s Resident Sound Designer
since the first season. Brent is the Program Director for Classical 95.5 KHFM and can be
heard weekdays from 6 – 10 am. Before returning to New Mexico, Brent was a resident sound
engineer at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Los Angeles Theatre Center and worked in
Public Relations at MCA INC. He engineers recordings and live broadcasts of local classical
music ensembles including The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus, New Mexico Philharmonic,
Albuquerque Youth Symphony, Albuquerque Chamber Soloists and others. Brent is married
to FUSION’s Stage Manager Maria Lee Schmidt; they have two teenage children who have
no interest in theatre or the performing arts.
ROBYN PHILLIPS (PROPERTIES MASTER) is FUSION’s Resident Properties Master. She
has worked on 54 shows since 2003 and considers The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Red and The
39 Steps to be her favorites. She received her theatre training from Idaho State University
and the University of New Mexico.
KRISTINA KASSOUF (COSTUME DESIGNER) is proud to design her first professional
show with FUSION. She graduated from West Texas A&M with a B.A. in Theatre in 2012 and
moved to Albuquerque with her husband last year. With FUSION, Kristina was the Production Stage Manager for Lady in the Light and the Assistant Stage Manager for The New
Electric Ballroom, Annapurna and Year of the Rooster. She also served as Deck Chief for The
Seven: Unfinished Business.
