Summary of software changes in Autokitchen 12:
✔ Additional
software functionality: Several new
functions have been added in version 12 along with
many improvements to existing functions.
✔ Catalogs:
Autokitchen 12 comes with a significant
catalog overhaul that includes many new door
styles, hardware options, appliances, wood
carvings and textures.
✔ Color
Renders: Higher quality color renders with
less need to manipulate lighting.
•New
Model Cube located at the top right side of the
drawing space lets you change views instantly.
✔ Performance:
Autokitchen 12 automatically
configures installation to maximize performance.
✔ AutoCAD
and O/S compatibility: The new
12 opens all AutoCAD files including
2012. In addition, it’s Windows 8 ready.

New Interface: A better way to design
•
- General Menu: Floor Plan View.
- Architectural Doors: Change door swing.
The new, modern interface leaves more drawing
space available and it results in less clicks.
However, existing users can opt to work with the
new interface or the old one by selecting “classic
view” under User Preferences.

There is no need to have multiple toolbars open.
The buttons are easily accessible and organized
under eight major categories across the top.
•
These eight categories are: Projects, Architecture,
Furniture, Countertops and moldings, Draw and
tools, Annotate, View and Photo.
- Furniture, Appliances, Accessories, Text and
Installation Symbols: Copy.
- Pillars and Element from shape: Delete.

Direct access to basic commands located on top,
left side: Open, Save, Save As…, Undo and Redo
(New in autokitchen 12).

Each button has a tag line and a short description.
There are several new commands available via
mouse right click:
Binocular button windows are now expandable in
size by user.
Printing: Additional flexibility and speed
•
Direct access to different views via the printing
tabs at the bottom of the screen.
•
Option to preview all paper tabs simultaneously.
•
Redesigned title blocks with larger space for logo.
•
File extensions jpeg and bmp also available to print
on paper.
•
Changes to a paper tab (new title block
information, On/Off and others) do not alter the
look of the paper tab.
Architecture
•
Reconfiguration of all architectural doors and
windows with some new models added.
•
Additional stair models added.
•
Change swing of a door already inserted faster via
right click of mouse (Change hand).
•

Addition of some 2D layers for certain architectural
elements such as stairs and fireplaces.
•
New items added include:
- Franke Orca sinks (regular and undermounted).
- Washer and Dryer combo units added in
universal and General Electric.
- Warming drawers by Wolf
- Over 100 additional hood models by Best.
Accessories: New bathroom fixtures and
wood carving elements added

New Bathroom catalog collection by Cosentino.

Updated and expanded Osborne catalog, adding
more than 150 new items.

Updated and expanded Art For Everyday catalog.
Expanded backsplash options by adding 34 new
mosaic tile models by New Ravenna.
Doors and Knobs: Significant increase in
the number of models available

New and improved door catalog with many new
changes in both quantity and quality.

Eight main door model categories have been
created with many different variations within each
category. New total surpassing 400 models.
When erasing room, new walls reset and start from
wall one.
Appliances: More to select from, particularly
Hoods
•
Updated universal catalog. All preview images
have been edited to increase viewing quality.
•
Hoods have been modified in order to improve
Floor plan view representation.
•
Revamping and expansion of the knob/handle
catalog with many new models across styles.
Total number of items above 300.
•
New knob/handle classification in eight main
groups to make the selection faster.
•
The eight main groups are: Knobs Classic, Knobs,
Pulls, Pulls (Integrated), Pulls curved, Pulls
Straight, Handlebars, Country style.
•
Knob/handle catalog has been made more
descriptive by adding dimension measurements:
Radius for knobs; the word “adjustable” for those
with dynamic dimensions; length and height
dimensions for all others.
Switch On/Off Improvements
•
New button to hide all appliances in a design.
•
New button to hide a specific accessory (not all of
them)
•
New option to hide wall hatch, independent of the
2D view
•
Faster material application when using the Object
brush.
•
Consolidation of stainless steel finishes. New
options are more realistic looking. There is now
one Stainless Steel category with 12 options
inside; 5 regular, 5 matte and 2 polished.

Autokitchen 12 automatically configures your
computer graphics card after installation. There is
a direct access button on the lower right side of
the screen in case manual changes are needed.
•
Two new variables have been added under
Render Parameters: Global Illumination and Final
Smoothing.
•
Global Illumination allows for a faster render
session since there is less need to add manual
lights.
Materials: Faster editing, New Collections
•
Cambria: New countertop manufacturer.
•
Redesigned Edit Materials window for easier use.
•
Final Smoothing in combination with the above
feature notably increases color render quality.
•
An additional improvement impacting renders
includes a stronger softness for shadows which
translates into more realistic renders.
Additional Improvements
•

There is a new type of shade, a cross between
wireframe and shade but with some transparency.
It's called with X-Ray.
In shade mode you can now see light reflections in
static images or when using the Orbit.
•
Universal Cabinetry catalogs have been edited
and new cabinet dimensions entered.
•
The technical information for appliances is now
filtered and categories without information no
longer show.
•
Parallel auxiliary lines now remember the last
value entered during the same design session.
•
New buttons to copy text and installation symbol.
•
Cleaner elevations: Object selections in elevation
view are now cleaner
