What is the Rayzar Air? A. The Rayzar Air is Winegard’s newest off-air digital RV antenna. Q. What capabilities does the Rayzar Air have? A: The Rayzar Air is a high-band VHF/UHF antenna with a multidirectional reception pattern, meaning it can receive signals from both the front and back of the antenna. It may also receive low-band VHF signals in optimal conditions. Q. How is the Rayzar Air installed? Is the Rayzar Air compatible with the Sensar lift assembly? A: Yes – the Rayzar Air is sold both as a standalone unit (including full lift assembly) and as a conversion kit from the Sensar. This will allow a consumer to retrofit a Sensar lift with the Rayzar Air antenna with a quick and easy process. The Rayzar Air is also compatible with the existing Sensar’s wiring and power supply. Q. What’s the difference between the Rayzar Air and the Sensar? A: The Rayzar Air’s multidirectional reception pattern gives it more coverage than the Sensar, which will lead to less tuning required to receive programming. It is also optimized for UHF reception, which a majority of US over-the-air stations are broadcast on. Q. How is the Rayzar Air operated? A: The Rayzar Air is operated by an interior crank assembly. It must be raised by cranking the interior handle and turned (using a directional handle) towards the broadcast tower locations. Given the multidirectional reception pattern, the antenna will require less fine tuning than the Sensar. A channel scan must then be run on the television to scan in channels received. Q. Is the Rayzar Air compatible with the SensarPro signal meter? A: Yes – the Rayzar Air is compatible with the SensarPro signal meter. The SensarPro provides detailed feedback on the signals the antenna is receiving and allows users to add or decrease amplification to best suit their location for maximum performance. Q. What channels can the Rayzar Air receive? A: The Rayzar Air antenna can receive programming from the major local broadcast networks (e.g. ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS) plus additional networks (Qubo, ION, The CW, This TV, MyNetworkTV, Azteca, Telefutura, Univision, and Telemundo). The Rayzar Air antenna can also receive local news, weather and educational programs that satellite and cable don’t offer. Availability may vary based on location and distance from the broadcast tower. Q. Does the Rayzar Air antenna work with any TV? A: The Rayzar Air works with any TV or device that has an ATSC tuner. Devices that may have built-in ATSC tuners include TVs, laptops, PCs, some satellite receivers, and digital recording devices (DVRs). Tip: Any television manufactured after March 1, 2007 is required by U.S. government to have an ATSC tuner. If your TV menu has an option for scanning for digital channels, then your television has an ATSC tuner. Q. Will the Rayzar Air work with an analog television? A: A large majority of over-the-air signals are now digital – the antenna does not differentiate between digital and analog signals. However, for an analog TV to work with a Rayzar Air, a digital-to-analog converter box must be used in conjunction with the antenna. Q. Can the Rayzar Air be connected to multiple televisions? A: Yes. The Rayzar Air antenna can connect to multiple televisions through the wall plate/power supply that comes with the unit (or is from an existing Sensar). Troubleshooting Q.
