Thousands attended the second annual Suffolk Downs Food Truck Festival in East Boston on Sept. 22.

The Suffolk Downs racetrack recently played host to one of the largest food truck events in
New England, drawing an estimated 15,000 people to sample from 23 trucks offering snacks
ranging from crepes to Asian dumplings to whoopie pies.
Held on Sept. 22, the second annual Suffolk Downs Food Truck Festival was the most
successful of the five festivals produced by Food Truck Festivals of New England this year,
surpassing by 50 percent the approximately 10,000 who attended the East Boston festival in
2011.
“It’s so exciting to be creating annual traditions such as the Suffolk Downs Food Truck
Festival — we hope it continues and look forward to creating destination events that bring
some of the best gourmet food trucks in New England together with thousands of hungry and
grateful guests,” said Anne-Marie Aigner, executive producer of the festival, in an email.
“We’re lucky to have such great food trucks to work with — and look forward to our
remaining 2012 festivals and the festivals we hope to produce in 2013,” Aigner continued.
In addition to dishes from the likes of Boston Super Dog, the Happy Taco, and Captain
Marden’s Cod Squad, the event included a live band — the Bill McGoldrick Duo, a DJ from
ACM Entertainment Group, sampling tables, and, naturally, horse racing.
Food Truck Festivals of New England will also host festivals in Framingham on Oct. 6, and in
Newport, R.I., on Oct. 20.
