OfSTED Visit
We would like to thank you all for your support and
good wishes during last week’s visit from OfSTED
inspectors. The 2 days are very intense and
challenging for all staff; there were over 20 lesson
observations and deep scrutiny of policies,
procedures and data. The main outcome is to
ensure that the education and experiences we
provide to your children are of the highest quality.
The report should be completed within 2 weeks
and so should be with us to send out to you all
before we break up for the summer holiday. All we
can say is we are very proud of your children and
our hard working, dedicated staff! The inspectors
certainly saw 2 normal WCM days and a good
range of the kind of experiences we give to your
children day in and day out!
Welcome to WCM!
Hi, my name is Natalia Hall and I am
extremely excited to joining Watercliffe
Meadow as a Y5 class teacher in
September. I am most looking forward
to getting to meet my class and having
the chance to teach some interesting
topics (and go on even more
interesting school visits). What excites me about
becoming part of Watercliffe Meadow is
everybody's love and enthusiasm for learning and
how positive and caring the school community is.
Out of school I have been known to be a bit of a
thrill seeker and have done some adventurous
things such as sky diving, white water rafting and
one of the world's highest bungy jumps. However,
usually my time out of school is spent doing less
adventurous activities such as reading, walking in
the Peak District or going geocaching with friends.
Currently my favorite author is George Martin (who
wrote Game of Thrones) as he never fails to
surprise me on what he is going to do next.
I look forward to getting to know and meeting
everybody next year - but first it's time to enjoy the
summer!
Hi, my name is Alice Edwards
and I am joining the team at WCM
in September as a Y4 teacher. I
grew up by the sea and the
mountains in North Wales - I can
speak a bit of Welsh! I moved to
Watercliffe Thursday Green ‘Un
live in Sheffield when I came to university here 4
years ago.
Outside of school I enjoy cooking, travelling and
learning new things. Before I went to university to
become a teacher I travelled around lots of
different countries in the world!
Interesting fact - I used to be scared of heights but
then did a parachute jump from 15,000 feet out of
a plane and it was the best experience ever!
My favourite book is anything written by Julia
Donaldson or David Walliams!
I'm looking forward to becoming part of Watercliffe
Meadow because it's a lovely school and you all
seem like a friendly bunch!
Hi, my name is Eve Ellis. I am
looking forward to teaching my new
Y1 class at Watercliffe Meadow, it
definitely will be an exciting year. I will
know lots of familiar faces from
teaching most of you in Reception
and can’t wait to get to know everyone in my class.
Y1EE will strive to do their best and will learn lots
of new things! If you have any suggestions for
what you would like to learn about then make sure
you tell me!
Outside of school, I love being with my family and
friends. I like walking in the countryside and
visiting new places too. I think there are lots of
amazing outdoor places to visit in Yorkshire! I try
to keep fit at the gym, enjoying Zumba and
Spinning. I really like reading different genres of
books and try to see new films too!
My favourite book is the Lottie Project by
Jacqueline Wilson.
Goodbye
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to
two special members of our WCM team.
Beccy Evans is leaving to relocate with her family
to Cambridgeshire. It has been a very difficult
decision for Beccy to move on after many happy
years with us at WCM. Beccy is looking forward to
new challenges and a new life nearer her parents.
We wish Beccy and her family all the best and
hope she will keep in touch.
Dave Arch is also leaving us to experience what
life is like in other schools around Sheffield. Dave
has had a fantastic time with us at WCM and it is

with a sad heart that he is leaving but we know he
will be back to do supply with us next year.
Good luck to you both!
application form. Children are admitted in date of
birth order and we currently have spaces for
September in all 4 of our sessions
FAST Graduation
On Tuesday evening WCM hosted a celebration
event which was attended by the Lord Mayor of
Sheffield. The event was to celebrate the end of
the 8 week FAST (Families and Schools Together)
project. The families have been working together
in hubs of 10 to celebrate the makings of family life
and build support networks with other families. It
has been quite amazing to see some of the
interactions and relationships that have developed
within the families – it has been very special! We
will be running the project again in the summer
term next year, so look out for it! Every family
‘graduated’ with a certificate and medal and
although this was the last of the weekly sessions
in school, the hubs will continue to meet together
monthly.
Clean Up Busk Park!
Parents’ Evening
A big thank you to all the families who attended
parents’ evening yesterday.
Discussing your
child’s progress and school working together with
families is the only way we will get the best
progress for your child. We hope you enjoyed
your child’s report. Staff put a lot of hard work into
making every one personal and representative of
the hard work your child has put in to their learning
over the last year. If you have any ideas of how
we can improve them for next year please fill in the
report return slip or call in and let us know.
Year 6 Production
Our special “one-night-only” performance of
HONK! is taking place on the evening of Tuesday
14th July at the Library Theatre, in Sheffield city
centre. Tickets are £3 for adults and children.
The tickets are now on general sale, please call in
to the office for more information. There is also a
performance in school tomorrow afternoon.
Tickets can be bought from the office.
Lost Property
The lost property box is extremely full at the
moment and has a real mixture of things in it
including lunchboxes, clothes, coats and shoes. If
your child has lost anything please check the lost
property box on the bottom corridor outside the Y2
classrooms before we clear it out at the end of the
term. We have returned all named items to
children.
Nursery Places
Our Nursery team are currently sorting out places
for children who are 3 years old and ready to start
in September. If you have already filled in an
application form then you will be contacted soon
with a time and date for a home visit. If you have
not registered your child for Nursery or know any
of your friends or family that have 3 year olds not
attending Nursery, call in to the office for an

We are working with South Yorkshire Police and
local groups to clean up Busk Meadow Park. The
‘do up the park day’ will take place on Wednesday
15th July and is being supported by Tesco and
Singh’s among others. More details will be sent
out nearer the time but please call in and ask if
you want to know more or join in.
After School Clubs
Kim Walsh has been busy organising after school
activities ready for September. There will be some
of the old favourites along with some new activities
for the children to try. Look out for the letter
coming out next Monday. Clubs will be allocated
on a first come first served basis so return your
forms as soon as possible.
Milk Orders
If your child wants to have milk in September,
orders need to be in to Sue Bibby by tomorrow,
Friday 10th July. This will enable her to place the
order with the dairy. Remember if your child
receives free school meals they are also entitled to
free milk but you will still need to order it.
Summer Raffle Tickets
We are currently selling Raffle Tickets at £1 a strip.
First prize is a £50 Amazon voucher and there are
many smaller prizes.
Uniform
Just a reminder to order any new uniform your
child may need ready for September. Please
remember that all sweatshirts and cardigans
MUST have the WCM logo – the uniform at your
school is compulsory! We do keep some in stock
but it may be worth picking up an order form from
the office to check they have everything you need!
