PANHANDLE MOSQUITO, ARBOVIRUS, PRECIPITATION, &
RIVER REPORTS FOR WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 2, 2016

MOSQUITOES:
Santa Rosa Co.: Anopheles crucians, Culex nigripalpus, and Culex erraticus
accounted for 76% of the 17 species collected. Turkey Bluff Rd had the greatest
numbers followed by Soundview. Nine of the 12 sites were above the spray
threshold. Totals for August were just below half the 4-year average.

Okaloosa Co.: Unavailable due to Hurricane Hermine closure of FSU PC…will
be included in next week’s report.
Holmes Co.: Culex erraticus, Psorophora ferox, Aedes atlanticus, and Culex nigripalpus
accounted for 82% of 10 species collected. Bonifay-Notingham Rd. had the greatest
number with all five sites above the state spray threshold. August totals ended almost 6X
higher than July.

Leon Co.: Aedes albopictus, Mansonia titillans, Culex erraticus, Aedes infirmatus
and Coquilletidia perturbans accounted for 75% of 16 species collected. The
Landfill (South) site had the greatest numbers. Eleven of the 15 sites were above
the spray threshold.

PRECIPITATION: Weekly & Monthly
Counties east of the Apalachicola River received 1.5-6.0”+ rainfall most of which
was associated with Hurricane Hermine. Those areas were 1-5” above normal.
Counties west of the river ranged from 0-0.5” and were 1-2” below normal.
Precipitation for August ranged from 4-nearly 20”. Many areas were 5-8”+ above
average, while other locations in Madison, Jefferson, Liberty, Calhoun, Jackson,
Gadsden, Washington, Holmes, and northern Okaloosa Cos. were 2” below normal.
