New stamps
The Christmas stamps that are issued
every year bring the feeling of Christmas
into thousands of homes. For many people,
it is not Christmas until the Sølvguttene
Boys' Choir sings in Christmas on Christmas Eve. This year the choir will spread
Christmas joy throughout the entire month
of December via Christmas cards.
More than 40 years have passed since Per
Asplin wrote the play about Putti Plutti
Pott and Santa's beard. The play will be
performed in a number of cities before
Christmas, and more than 6,000 children
have been involved in the play since its
start. The two Christmas stamps were
designed by Magnus Rakeng.
This stamp program leading up to 2015 will vary widely.
The Norwegian Red Cross is celebrating its 150th anniversary and Norway Post is issuing four
stamps to mark the occasion. Anders Beer Wilse was a pioneer in photography. His pictures
continue to be a great testimony to the early years of Norway as an independent nation. The 150th
anniversary of his birth will be celebrated in 2015 in part with the issue of three stamps and one
miniature sheet. Viggo Ree's beautiful watercolour paintings form the basis for a new series of
definitive stamps that will be issued in both January and October.
The year's final stamp issue is a miniature
sheet for the Nordia 2014 stamp exhibition.
The miniature sheet depicts two of the
stamps from the anniversary of the
Norwegian Constitution in May printed with
the text «Nordia 2014». Enzo Finger and
Sverre Morken designed the minisheet.

In October, Norway Post participated in Internationale Briefmarkenbörse in Sindelfingen, Germany,
with an exhibition card and a
personalised stamp. The motif of
the exhibition card and the
cancellation is taken from the
City Hall in Sindelfingen. The stamp
depicts one of the typical old
binding buildings from Sindelfingen.
The NOK 5 denomination in the
Posthorn series (NK 1454) has been
issued in a new edition and has a
print date of 10 July 2014. The
stamps were first used on 9
September 2014. Please note that
the stamps in this edition are
printed on self-adhesive paper.
