1950
The board met with the chairman, 0. M. James, presiding.
After some very important information coming from the Moderator and the Chairman of the board, we decided to meet

the consideration of the brethren, and after much discussion
it was agreed that the Constitution of the association be
strictly
adhered
to.
Two applicants for examination for ordination cam? before
us at this time, Brethren Willie Cotton and John H. Parker.
After careful and prayerful examination they were recommended for Ordination. In Saturday morning session Brother
Crandall came before the Board, and after examination he too
was recommended for Ordination.
Whereas the duties of our Executive Board are constantly
and Whereas we feel our Institute will be better
served and the worker enhanced, by the location of the members of the Board in the various areas of our associational
bounds, and Whereas under Article 4, Sec. 5 of our Constitution the maximum number of members is 12, we, therefore,
recommend that the number be increased to 15.

MODERATOR'S ANNUAL ADDRESS
Pastors, Ministers, Delegates, Friends, and Visitors
—
Providence has again provided with these grand privileges to
greet each other as faithful stewards of our Heavenly Father
to greet each other on the 85th Annual Setting of this grand
old body, Old Eastern Missionary Baptist Association in North
—
Carolina.
As we stand upon the threshold of time gazing into the
future amid a world of turmoils and upheavals being alarmed
by the threat and rumors of a possible Third World War,
wherein United States of America together with other members of the United Nations organization are calling to arms
their sons for the purpose of securing and protecting their
interests.
May we pray for guidance of those within whose hands
rests the destinies of our nations or peoples for a glorious and
victorious future. May I admonish you in words of the Prophet
Isaiah to "never fear" with true and implicit trust in the
fear not for I am with thee, I will bring thy seed
from the east, and gather thee from the west.

A.
The Exhortation
Fear not anxieties
The Prophet charges
Israel not to fear, nor become discouraged but to keep the faith so may we keep the faith and
be courageous in our duties and responsibilities. May we look
upon the fields that are white and laden and ready to be
housed but laborers are few.
May we therefore pray to
the vineyard.
B.
God
for laborers to be sent into
Fear not want
All our needs are supplied in
God
needs before asking Him. Ask and
22
it
for
He knows
all
of our
shall be given, seek
and
—
ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you for all
thing's belong to Him cattle upon a thousand hills, the rubies
and diamonds, silver and gold may be ours, if we fear not.
;
Fear not enemies
We have no need to fear our adversaries, vengeance is
the Lord's and He will repay call upon God and He will deliver
thee in time of trouble. He is our refuge and underneath us
in His everlasting arms. He fought the battle of Gideon's
army.
C.
—
D.
Fear not duties
Jesus has directed us to go into His vineyard and work.
And whatsoever is right He will repay. It behooves us to bestir
ourselves by doing our individual and Christian duties. God's
orders to the church as He did Israel is to bring all our tithes
into His storehouse and prue him herewith sayeth the Lord
of Host, if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour
you out blessings there shall not be room enough to receive
them.
E.
Fear not
perils
We
observe that we are living in perilous times, we are
charged not to fear, as true believers. In journeying often in
perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own
countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in
perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among
false brethren. Fear not. Who shall separate us from the love
of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword. As it is written for
thy sake we are killed all day long We are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him that loved us. Heighth nor depth
shall not be able to separate us from the love of God, which
is in Christ, Jesus, our Lord.
—
:
Fear not death
There is no death to him which is in Christ Jesus. He
died that in Him we might live. He extracted the sting from
death and took victory from the grave and made up a dying
bed as soft as donning pillow there, where the Saints of God
shall rest his dying head.

2.
The Promise.
—
God's promise cannot fail. His promise to His disciples
let not your heart be troubled. Ye believe in God, believe also
in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were
riot so, I would not have told you. I g-o to prepare a place for
you and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again,
and receive you unto Myself that where I am, there ye may be
also. I will aid thee in sickness, I will comfort thee when lonely,
I will guide thee when in the darkness, and I will protect thee
from hurts, harms and dangers. So to the auxiliaries of this
grand old body of the old Eastern Association why should we
fear with this assurance.
