An invitation is extended to all eligible figure skaters in good standing with Skate Canada to participate
in the 2016 Skate Canada - Central Ontario March Mania Competition. The competition will be held in
accordance with the rules of Skate Canada and special guidelines approved for the competition.
Registration:
Registration for this event is an online submission and must be completed in full in order for the entry to be
accepted.
The detailed registration instructions are included in this announcement. Please refer to the end of the
document.
Closing Date of Entries:
Access to online registration will cease at 11:59pm on January 27, 2016. Registrations will be accepted on first
come-first served basis.
Synchro entries will be capped at 45.
SYNCHRONIZED SKATING CATEGORIES
SYNCHRO ENTRIES WILL BE CAPPED AT 45.
ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.
A category may not be held if there is only one entry. Teams will be notified by the registrar if they are the only
entry and if they wish to skate an exhibition they must let the registrar know. Teams skating an exhibition will
be given CPC scores and will receive a report card for their performance.
2015 ISU approved amendments will be applicable. All free programs in the 2015-2016 competitive season
must meet the well balanced program requirements established by Skate Canada.
Teams will skate the free program twice except Beginner I. Beginner I will skate the free program only once in
keeping with the LTAD model and the CPC system.
Age Eligible as of July 1 preceding the event.
BEGINNER I
A team of 8-16 skaters.
No age limit (recommend skaters working on CanSkate Stage 4 or higher).
PROGRAM LENGTH: Maximum 2:10 minutes (may be shorter and will receive no penalty)
BEGINNER II
A team of 8-16 skaters.
Skaters must not have reached the age of 12 as of July 1st preceding the competition. At least 75% of the
skaters must not have reached the age of 10 as of July 1st preceding the competition.
PROGRAM LENGTH: Maximum 2:40 minutes (may be shorter and will receive no penalty)
ELEMENTARY
A team of 8-16 skaters.
Skaters must not have reached the age of 15 as of July 1st preceding the competition. At least 75% of the
skaters must not have reached the age of 12 as of July 1st preceding the competition.
PROGRAM LENGTH: Maximum 2:40 minutes (may be shorter and will receive no penalty)
JUVENILE
A team of 8-16 skaters.
Skaters must not have reached the age of 15 as of July 1st preceding the competition.

PRE-NOVICE
A team of 8-16 skaters.
Skaters must not have reached the age of 19 as of July 1st preceding the competition. At least 75% of the
skaters must have reached the age of 10 as of July 1st preceding the competition.

ADULT CLASS I
A team of 8-20 skaters.

Skaters must have reached the age of 19 as of July 1st preceding the competition. At least 75% of the skaters

ADULT CLASS III
A team of 8-20 skaters.
Skaters must have reached the age of 19 as of July 1st preceding the competition. At least 50% of the skaters
must have reached the age of 35 as of July 1st preceding the competition.
PROGRAM LENGTH: Maximum 2:40 minutes (may be shorter and will receive no penalty)
ENTRY FEES
Entry Fees are payable by VISA or MasterCard through PayPal. No other form of payment will be accepted.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
No skater will be registered until all money owing is properly paid by the January 27th closing date. The committee
reserves the right to limit entries in categories. Your PayPal receipt of payment is your registration confirmation. Please
print your receipt and retain for your records.
Refunds and Withdrawals:
Full refunds will be given for any cancelled categories. If an entry is withdrawn prior to January 27th, 2016, a refund (less
an administrative fee of $35.00 per skater) will be granted. NOTE: NO REFUNDS (including medical) will be granted after
January 27th, 2016.
Late Entries:
Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Technical Representative and will be subject to a $50.00 late fee.
Qualification for Entry:
1) Competitive Skaters who are registered with Skate Canada in the current year at the Novice, Junior or Senior
categories at the 2016 Skate Canada – Central Ontario Sectional Championships (in November 2015) are not eligible
to compete at the 2016 Skate Canada – Central Ontario March Mania Competition in any category at any level. For
the purposes of interpretation of this regulation, registration for a Sectional event is defined as the submission of a
registration form for such event.
Skaters registered to compete in the Pre-Novice level at a Sectional or Sectional qualifying competition may register to
compete in event categories at the 2016 Skate Canada-Central Ontario March Mania Competition other than those competed
in at a Sectional Competition. Please see the table below for the qualifications for entry.

2) Test Prerequisites: Competitors wishing to enter shall have passed the tests for the various categories by November 1
preceding the competition.
3) Skating up: Skaters may skate up in the Freeskate and Dance categories, if desired.
4) Composition of Partners: Couples for Pair and Dance categories must be comprised of one woman and one man. Each
individual in the partnership must satisfy all eligibility requirements.
Groups:
Drawn groups are final and cannot be changed even if there is a conflict due to multiple categories/disciplines entered by
the skater.
Practice Ice:
There will be no official practice ice.
On-Site Registration:
Each competitor is entitled to be accompanied by an accredited coach/choreographer. All competitors and
coaches/choreographers must register onsite at the Innisfil Recreation Complex. Registration will commence on Friday,
March 4, 2016, one hour before the first scheduled category. All Skaters must have their music when registering.
Coaches/Choreographers Accreditation:
In order to be accredited at the 2016 Skate Canada - Central Ontario March Mania competition, Skate Canada coaches
must have a valid ID and must bring the ID with them and present it at the coaches registration desk. Only two certified
coaches per entry will be accredited.
Music:
Each entry must provide two CDs for the competition upon registration, one for competition - marked “Master”
and one for back up - marked “Copy”. These must be registered with music registration at least one hour prior
to the posted start time of the category and may not be removed for any reason until after the category is
completed. Music must be picked up within 30 minutes after completion of the category.
All music used must be in the public domain or covered by the performing rights societies. Competitors who have
music composed specifically for their programs either wholly or in part, are responsible for obtaining a written release
from the composer for the use of such music on radio and/or television or appropriate clearance from the performing
rights societies.

Only one program shall be recorded on each CD
The start of the music shall be recorded on the CD with less than two seconds of lead in.
Competitor’s name followed by category, program type – short or free, and music time shall be shown on
the CD label.
Each CD shall be enclosed in a plastic case marked with the skater’s name, category, program type – short
or free, and total music time.
All dance categories will be skated to Skate Canada Dance Records Series 8.
Age Qualifications:
July 1, 2015 for all Synchronized skating categories.
Test Qualifications:
November 1, 2015
Adult Classification:
A skater is considered to be an Adult if he/she is 19 years of age or older.
Entry Restrictions for multiple Categories:
Skaters entered in a couples dance category may enter one solo dance category.
Eligibility Rules:
This competition is open to registered STARSkate members of Skate Canada. Participants must be eligible persons as
defined by Section 2100 of the Skate Canada Rulebook. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The
committee reserves the right to limit entries in categories as necessary. In the case of a large entry in any
category, the skaters will be drawn into groups.

Video Taping: A professional videotaping service will be available. Private video of your own competitor only is
permitted - see Skate Canada Event Management 1-12 (2). Photo Cell Phones will not be permitted in the dressing
room area or at ice level.

ONLINE COMPETITION REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
2016 March Mania
In order to register for competitions utilizing the Skate Canada - Central Ontario online competition
registration system, please have the following information ready before proceeding:

Team Manager’s temporary login number or Skate Canada number.

Skater’s Skate Canada ten digit membership number (If you do not know your membership
number please CONTACT your home club.)
Email address associated with the skater’s record
Attending coach’s name and email address – if required by competition registration.
Credit card information for payment processing.
If you are an international skater and do not yet have a registration number assigned to you, contact
the Skate Canada - Central Ontario office to obtain a temporary registration number and password.
This only needs to be done for the first competition you are registering for and can be reused for
subsequent competition registrations.

NOTE: You can register for categories as long as the competition registration is open. You can log in and
review your registration as often as you like, pay for category registrations, add additional registrations
at any time prior to registration closing and make additional payments.
You can also remove registrations (only if competition is still open), but if the registrations have been
paid for, you must contact the REGISTRAR to receive a refund for the withdrawal.
