Exhibition A MAGN CART Its Significance Lisboa, Torre do Tombo 7 to 12 December, 2015 9:30-19:30 | Free admission Torre do Tombo hosts the Magna Carta from Hereford Cathedral (1217) and the only surviving copy of King John’s Writ (1215), on the occasion of the global tour to mark its 800th anniversary. In addition, the exhibition will feature documents issued during the reign of King Afonso II, contemporaneous with Magna Carta, which highlight Portugal’s innovative administrative policy at the time, as well as the Windsor Treaty of 1386, which established the basis of bilateral relations between Portugal and Great Britain up to the current times.
