September October, and
November, 2015
Recent Social Events
A variety of social events continued to
provide residents with the chance to
socialize.
We met in September to enjoy a tasty
Mexican Fiesta. Thanks to Ralph and
Gayden for being the waiters, and a
very special THANK YOU! to Renee for
cooking to order the delicious Mexican
entrees.
In October, the Carlsons graciously
shared their beautiful pavilion on the Big
Hungry River. With the sounds of
rushing water and soft jazz as
accompaniment, we enjoyed a variety of
drinks, chili, and cornbread.
November was an off campus event to
see the play Catfish Moon at the Flat
Rock Playhouse downtown. We started
out with pizzas and drinks at Poe
House, and then enjoyed the talented
efforts of our local Hendersonville
thespians.
The book group continues to meet
monthly as well.
Whether you live here full time or
part time or make only occasional visits
to town, please plan to join us for
upcoming events!!
Renee busy cooking yummy Mexican

Welcome
Welcome to our newest residents Jen
Stickney and Michael Ebanks. Their
home on lot 21 is complete and they,
along with their dog Banshee, are now
full time residents.
Duke changes plans:
In November, Duke Energy announced
they were cancelling previously
announced plans to build 45 miles of
high voltage transmission lines through
the mountains of North Carolina into
Campobello SC. Residents of the
affected counties had raised an intense,
vocal opposition to the plan, sending
Duke over 9000 comments that
expressed concerns about the necessity
of the plan and the potential adverse
economic and aesthetic impacts on our
mountains. Instead, Duke announced it
will focus on building two smaller gas
fired generators as well as promoting
energy conservation and renewable
energy options. Pinnacle Falls residents
were active in this effort including
expressing their opinions in writing to
Duke, speaking out at local meetings,
and working with organized groups
opposing the plan.

Pinnacle Falls Scene:
The drought of the summer is
past, as abundant rainfall has
replenished the watershed and
given vibrant life to the mountains.
Our streams and waterfalls in
Pinnacle Falls have been
amazing. Fall colors were, again,
spectacular. Some days have
been filled with sunny days and
near-cloudless skies, while others
have been fog shrouded with an
eerie beauty.
And, we have learned not to put
out our garbage too early.
