For those who have served in the military, they know
firsthand the meaning of the phrase, “Freedom isn’t free.”
That’s why so many volunteers work each year to honor
our nation’s heroes and the sacrifices they and their
families have made for our country.
In 2014, Wreaths Across
America and their national
network of volunteers laid over
700,000 memorial wreaths at
1,000 locations in the United
States and beyond. They were
able to include ceremonies at the
Pearl Harbor Memorial, as well
as Bunker Hill, Valley Forge and
the sites of the September 11th
tragedies. They accomplished this with help from 2,047
fundraising groups, corporate contributions, and
donations of trucking, shipping, and thousands of helping
hands. In 2014, their goal of covering Arlington National
Cemetery was accomplished with the placement of
226,525 wreaths.
How can you help?
During the year, we collected donations through U.S. Flag
sales. In November we will be collecting donations that
will be used to purchase wreaths to be placed at
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Stop by your
nearest NuMark office and make a donation. Last year
we collected $2,761.35 and donated 276 wreaths.
You are also welcome to participate in the National
Wreaths Across America Remembrance Ceremony
scheduled for December 12th at 11AM at Abraham
Lincoln National Cemetery. Watch for more details.

We are pleased to welcome nine 8th Graders as our newest Bank at School
Tellers at Rockdale Elementary School. They visited NuMark for a special
training session where we talked about the importance of saving money,
the security features found in money and confidentiality. After learning the
best way to count money, complete deposit slips and make deposits, they
took a special behind-the-scenes tour. Now they are ready to help their
fellow students save money.
With support from the Illinois State Treasurer’s office, the Bank at School
program is designed to teach students the importance of saving money.
Students can open a Bank at School account at NuMark with $5. Bank at
School at Rockdale is open to 1st through 8th graders. Under NuMark’s
supervision on Bank at School Days, Student Tellers accept deposits and
help students pick out their saving reward prizes.
Currently, NuMark Credit Union partners with Rockdale Elementary School
in Rockdale and Wharton 5th Grade Center and Heritage Middle School in
Summit. If you’re interested in bringing Bank at School to your school, call
