Saint Ignatius Broadcasting Network (SIBN)
Michael Watts is entering his third
season with the SIBN. Starting with
baseball in 2007, Watts has taken over
as play-by-play commentator or color
analyst in seven sports, spanning all
three sports seasons. He called nine
games during the 2009 football season.
He has called over 80 games in the past
two years in a variety of sports. He has
written and produced a series of media
relations materials for hockey, baseball,
football, and basketball. During
basketball season, he has taken over as
the "voice of Sullivan Gymnasium" acting
as the public address announcer for
home games. Watts was the recipient of
the first ever Golden Microphone Award
(Saint Ignatius' top broadcaster), and the
Dick Zunt '50 SSID Award for the 20092010 school year. Watts, of Shaker Hts.,
will be a senior this year.
The Saint Ignatius Broadcasting Network is the most extensive
student run sports broadcasting network in Ohio. Covering over 100
games last season, the club began four years ago under Brendan
Gulick. One year in, the SIBN had a sponsor and a moderator.
National City signed as the first sponsor of Wildcat radio, and Jeff
McCormick came aboard as moderator. Under Jacob Corrigan in
2009, the group began to grow even more. Finding online video
sharing partners UStream.tv and Livestream.com, the club began to
videocast hockey, basketball, volleyball, and baseball games. The
group covered 9 football games in 2009 and broadcasted over 100
games in seven sports. This year the club is left in the hands of

the SIBN. Covering football and
basketball on the air or as a statistician in
the past, McCormick serves as Saint
Ignatius' Annual Fund Director. Bringing
his own unique voice to the air, he had
worked previously in minor league
baseball as a broadcaster. Focusing on
both the financial and broadcasting sides
of the club, McCormick has continued to
grow the tradition of the SIBN by finding
new sponsors and helping younger talent
to grow and develop their own voices.
This will be his third year with the group,
and his leadership has helped result in
growth of a "Saint Ignatius radio club"
from an idea to a radio broadcasting
group that has received thousands of
listeners. McCormick lives in Rocky
River.
