band straining to rekindle old magic.
What’s the story?
The eleventh studio album by the Sheffield
rock legends – their first since 2008.
According to vocalist Joe Elliott, the album is
self-titled because it harks back to the band’s
range of sounds over the years as it enters
the twilight of its career, with a mix of heavy,
acoustic, slow and fast aspects.

Confidence
Worth a listen?
Def Leppard carved a hugely popular niche
for themselves in the 80s’ with its glammedup version of heavy metal, which, looking
back, was more pop than anything. As the
genre, and the band itself, wanes from the
public eye, they’ve cobbled together
another batch of songs that could almost be
a greatest hits compilation. It spans a
diverse range of songs that reflect various

Verdict: A tired release from a
Leppard eras but, sadly, an actual greatest
hits album would be a better listen as most
of these songs sound like tired replicas of
the classics.
To be fair, the band members have tried to
push their songwriting in new directions with
songs like Man Enough and Energised, which
feature disco and techno jams, while they try
to evoke their inner Led Zeppelin with the
psychedelic, bluesy Battle of My Own. Fans
of the band will find something to love, but
younger listeners wanting to sample a
bygone era would be better off grabbing a
copy of Hysteria or Pyromania.
Confidence is all about poise, an air of self-assurance that’s developed
over years of self-belief. It’s the same with automobiles, which is why at
Almoayyed Motors, the dealer for Ford vehicles in the Kingdom,
confidence seems to surround the SUVs in the Ford stable.
These SUVs are now available at affordable prices and come with a
range of other benefits. Customers can now enjoy extremely attractive
prices, together with five years/100,000km free service, five years
/100,000km warranty, five years /100,000km 24-hour roadside assistance
and free rust proofing on popular models.
Sandeep Mathur, general manager, Almoayyed Motors, says: “It’s
crucial that owners are confident of their vehicles on the road and these
Ford SUVs offer the highest levels of confidence both in terms of
performance and driving comfort. The youthful Escape, the agile
EcoSport, the rugged Flex, the innovative Explorer and the ever-popular
Expedition, are also ideal family vehicles, thanks to their space, comfort
and power.”
The EcoSport starts from just BD80 per month, the Escape starts from
BD113 per month, the Flex at BD155 per month, the Explorer from BD158
per month and the Expedition from BD88 per month. These prices are
even more impressive when you consider the number of features the
vehicles are packed with.
The features on the Escape include, Ford SYNC-Voice activated
communications and entertainment system, power lift gate and keyless
entry. The Explorer has seven-seats, a rear view camera, a MyKey
programmable vehicle key that allows parental controls on driving speed,
and an SOS post-crash alert system. The Expedition has eight seats, a
585bhp engine, independent suspension and advance trac with roll
stability control.

Little Mix – Get Weird
Ellie Goulding - Delirium
The UK’s leading girl group and former X
Factor winners return, with an album that is
surprisingly decent and sure to be replayed
endlessly on teen-friendly radio. The
foursome are more than just pretty faces
and are genuinely strong singers, with
powerful vocals coming to the fore in catchy
songs like the title track and Black Magic,
while they channel their inner Motown for
Love Me Like You. There’s a few too many
melodramatic ballads that bring the mood of
the album down somewhat, but this is a
solid release from a band still on the up.
Ellie Goulding returns to dish out
another serving of pure pop, with a
host of famous songwriters backing up
her charming voice with strong lyrics.
There’s a lot to process here, with the
album’s 16 songs feeling like 26 by the
time they’re done, but there’s some
enjoyable tunes to be found in the form
of Something in the Way You Move and
Codes. She’s got the ‘pop’ part nailed
to a T, so it’d be nice to see her branch
out of her comfort zone and tap into
some other genres in the future.
A New Legend is Born
This reputed marque is offering a sensational selection of SUVs at
impressive prices.
Amy: The Original Soundtrack –
Various Artists
The soundtrack to the documentary film Amy, this is
perhaps the final curtain call for the tragic musician
who wasted profound natural talent. The album is
light on new music, but most of the collection here
brings to light B-sides, bonus tracks and live
recordings that only the true hardcore fans will
have heard. This compilation isn’t anywhere near
as enlightening or engrossing as its source
material, but, if you’ve seen the film, read the views
from friends and family who knew her, and are now
determined to buy the album, there’s just enough
here to make it worth your while.

An up and coming band with strong ties to
Bahrain, Sheikh is making waves on the UK
music scene. BTM caught up with the band’s
drummer Vish Mhatre for a tête-à-tête.
Y
oung, talented and raring to go pretty
much sums up 22-year-old Vish Mhatre.
A budding lawyer by day and a
musician by night, Vish is the drummer
of a five-member UK-based band, Sheikh,
initially formed in Bahrain. The band’s other
members include Mazen Almaskati (vocals),
Rab Honar (bass), Jad Habib (guitar) and Josh
Simcock (synth, vocals).
“We all went to school [St Christopher’s]
together here in Bahrain,” says Vish. “We all
had a mutual friend who used to throw these
ridiculous house parties and I found out that
Mazen plays the guitar and Rab plays the bass.
We got talking and realised that we listened to
the same music; we got together for a jam and
since then it hasn’t really stopped.”
Mazen, Vish and Rab were the original
members, then met Josh and Jad in London and
kept the band going.
Talking about the band’s name, Sheikh, Vish
says: “We just wanted something that is true to
ourselves and true to where we came from.
There’s something so simple about the name
and also something quite mysterious; it’s a bit
extravagant, quite easy to remember and
always gets a good reaction.”
Having been described as Indie rock, Vish
describes the band’s style as being a mix since
everyone listens to different types of music,
from classic rock to old school hip hop, dance
and funk.
Of the demo and initial single, he says: “The
guitar’s quite ambient; the song’s fairly upbeat
but quite atmospheric at the same time.”
The band has started a new project with an
album’s worth of songs ready to be released
and they’ve been receiving a lot of support from

a major record label in the UK. “We’re really
going to take our time to put it out and the right
label to release it with,” says Vish. “We’re
starting a tour in the first half of December and
playing a few shows around the UK – London,
Bristol, Brighton and Southampton.”
After the tour, Sheikh plans to release an EP
later next year. Talking about future plans, Vish
says: “We’ve got a lot of songs written already,
so just to put them out and hopefully get the
same reaction we got when we put out the
demo. We’ll just see how it goes really and take
it as it comes.”
Sheikh has been picked up on BBC Radio’s
BBC Introducing and through that by a couple
of London blogs.
A word of advice from Vish to other budding
bands: “Stick with the people you like, make
music that you enjoy making and never play
music to get somewhere, just do it for fun. If
you’re really good at it, people will notice you.”
Vish’s favourite local bands include friends
Flamingods (formerly from Bahrain, now based
in Dubai), Relocators and Belly of Paris.
Apart from the BBC and Amazing Radio, Vish
says their biggest supporters have been friends
and family. “I know it sounds clichéd but
without my family I wouldn’t have a drum kit.”

Vish’s musical inspirations have been

The whole band loves Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin
and The Doors from the older generation and
newer bands such as Foxygen, King Gizzard &

Apart from being a lawyer and a musician,
Vish is also an avid racer. “When I was younger

SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT OPTIONS
Bahrain This Month has now introduced an integrated social media
support facility for those advertisers participating commercially.
As privileged clients of Red House Marketing, we extend our support on
our social media platforms by promoting your brand on our BTM social
media pages (i.e. Facebook, Instagram & Twitter). Our social media fans
are highly engaging and we believe social media is the best way to
complement our existing print reach to a more active online audience
thereby creating more awareness and generating brand visibility.
Parallel to the print advertisements, beauty reviews, advertorials & fitness
columns in our BTM magazine, we would like to offer you the following
online activities on our BTM social media:
1) Brand Awareness Exercises: Promotional Posts - Brand related
updates, product reviews/brand stories in the form of video content,
infographics will be posted to share the brand updates to the online
audience.
2) Custom Campaigns: We can create tailored social media packages
exclusively for BTM’s online audience e.g. offering discounts to users of
BTM based on their engagement with the brand. The offers should be
unique to RHM titles and the audience generated by such campaigns.
3) Contests: Contests that talk about the brand, trigger an action like voting
for your favorite product, service or exclusive merchandise. Give away
vouchers or prizes can be distributed to select users for their content
sharing/engagement activities.
N.B. Logistics of all the above points to be discussed with you prior to the
execution of the plan.
We can also design, curate and create content for sharing and
engagement purposes. The above approach is designed to significantly
contribute to your ‘brand buzz’, brand recall and help create brand loyal
customers for your company.
We believe, print and online promotion go hand in hand and together will
certainly enhance the brand image.
Do let us know your interest in looking at the social media promotion of
your brand on our media pages by supporting us with your valuable gift
coupons, giveaways, freebies, discount vouchers.
