Carrizo Springs Consolidated Independent School District Bond Election Tuesday, November 3, 2015 November 2015 Bond Proposal • On August 10th, the Carrizo Springs CISD Board of Trustees unanimously called for a $30,000,000 bond election for November 3, 2015 Bond Proposal - Projects • Renovate current junior high school to new CSI • To accommodate CSI students • To provide facilities that meet TEA standards • Build a new cafeteria and kitchen for CSE students • To meet the space needs of the current enrollment • To create room for future growth • Add a wing to the new junior high school • To accommodate 6th grade • Purchase new buses • To replace older buses and modernize the fleet • Upgrade technology and relocate maintenance and transportation department (Voc. Ag. Bldg.) Homeowners Age 65 and Over • Under Texas law, if a person applied for and receives the Age 65 Freeze, your school taxes are frozen and cannot be increased above the amount paid in the first year after the person turned 65 – regardless of changes in tax rate or property value – unless there are significant improvements or additions made to the home that increase its value. What happens if the bond does not pass? • CSI students will stay at the present campus. • Portables will continue being used to offset lack of instructional space in the regular building. What happens if the bond does not pass? • The existing junior high building will remain as is. • Possibility of plumbing and cast iron lines not being repaired for the upcoming year. What happens if the bond does not pass? • CSE stays as is. • Lunch will continue to start at 10:45 to accommodate all 750 students.
