As Governor, it is a pleasure to welcome you
to the Indiana State Fair. Indiana is home to
the nation’s best State Fair and the tradition
continues this year. My wife Karen and I
have always enjoyed the State Fair, and
we look forward to celebrating the “Year of
Popcorn” presented by Pop Weaver Popcorn
with our fellow Hoosiers this year.
I encourage all of you to take advantage of the family experiences and educational opportunities you will find at the State Fair.
Check out the World’s Largest Popcorn Ball pres. Indiana Family
of Farmers, located in the Ball State Agriculture and Horticulture
Building. Stop by the Dairy Bar to try all foods dairy, and do not
miss the opportunity to sign young Hoosiers up to learn how to fish
at the FishIN’ Pond behind the Department of Natural Resources
Building. Educators and their students should attend STEM days
August 13-16 for free, hands-on learning activities about science,
technology, engineering, and math that students would not get in
the classroom.
Karen and I enjoy strolling through Pioneer Village and will
definitely explore the new Glass Barn, designed by The Indiana
Soybean Alliance, that hosts an array of interactive games and
activities that teach Hoosiers how farming works and how food is
produced.
Thank you to the Indiana State Fair Commission for planning and
hosting the State Fair. Your dedication to and involvement in the
Hoosier community is what makes events like the State Fair possible and Indiana a great place to live.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Pence
