A skilled, capable, highly productive workforce with experience in building and operating facilities of the
highest magnitude and complexity, from power plants
and steel mills to advanced manufacturing and major distribution facilities.
• A vital transportation infrastructure that connects you with the world via easy access to state and U.S. highways and Interstates 70 and 74; rail with CSX Transportation;
and air from community airports like Terre Haute
International, capable of accommodating a 747, and

Business and technology uses in the Newport plan are
flexible to allow for changing markets into the future.
Three “mega-sites” accommodate major developments and
additional sites allow for smaller-scale business/technology.
Uses could include office/industrial parks, research/testing, manufacturing/fabrication, storage/distribution, energy
production, agribusiness, energy research/education and
institutional uses.
Facilities for shared research, support and conferencing,
available in a central location on the site, promote
collaboration and economies of scale and, along with a
park area, create a special focal point for the site.
An area along Highway 63 near the site entrance will be
developed for hotels, restaurants, an auto/truck service
plaza and a convenience store to serve Newport users
and the general community.
Major forest areas, natural drainage-ways and portions of
tall grass prairie remain protected as natural areas. A green
corridor with recreational trails connects all natural areas
and preserves wildlife corridors. Acreage adjacent to the
central conference and support area will provide two parks
with walking trails and landscaped and picnic areas.
Areas with the best soils for farming are reserved for
agriculture and forestry uses. Farming will continue in
business and technology areas until market demand
supports development.
Indiana ranks sixth nationally – and tops in the
Midwest – in Area Development magazine’s
“Top States for Doing Business” ranking!
It’s near the top in five of eight categories
important to site selection consultants,
including second nationally for infrastructure,
third for labor climate, fourth for fast-track
permitting, fifth for lowest business costs,
and fifth for business friendliness.
