Telemark 2 ULW – the world`s lightest two-person tent
PRESS RELEASE March 2015 Telemark 2 ULW – the world’s lightest two-person tent Telemark 2 ULW is the world’s lightest tent – and it doesn’t compromise on quality or functionality. Telemark 2 is world news for the keen outdoor enthusiast and adventure race competitors. When you have to walk or run with your hotel room on your back – in the form of a packed tent – the weight is crucial. The less weight you have to carry up the mountain or run with from control to control, the better. But the tent must also be easy to pitch and provide a dry night’s sleep after a hard day trekking the mountains. The Telemark 2 ULW tent from Nordisk does all this. Telemark 2 ULW is a two-person, two-layer tent that weighs a mere 880 grams, and is thereby the world’s lightest two-person tent. Telemark is ideal for adventure racers, who want to run with as little weight as possible, but has also proven a popular tent for trekkers and hikers who want to cut weight When pitched Telemark 2 provides room for two tall hikers and there is even a little room for boots or a small amount of luggage between the flysheet and inner tent. Telemark 2 ULW was launched in 2013 and became an instant hit among adventure racers and outdoor enthusiasts. Low weight – high functionality Even though the low weight is in focus all of the 880 grams are optimized with functional features. Telemark 2 is a real tent with both flysheet and breathable inner tent. The two-layer construction provides ventilation and reduces condensation. This means optimal comfort compared to the average lightweight tent with just one layer. It also allows runners to bring just the flysheet in order to reduce weight even further. Telemark 2 is pitched in just four minutes, thanks to the simple design with just a single pole. Telemark is also easy to pack. The easy pitching and the easy packing is a great advantage in adventure races and for the tired trekker, who doesn’t want to bother with complicated gear. 880g World Record PRESS RELEASE March 2015 A very special and unique detail is the corner poles, which can also be used together as a long pole that converts the door into a small tarp. The door has magnetic quick snap closure, which feels like the door closes by it self. Nordisk uses patented quick snap magnets instead of Velcro, so users don’t have to worry about noise or dirt and clothes getting stuck in the Velcro. Telemark features an integrated packsack. It is located in the inner tent and doubles as a pocket for storage and the converts into a bag that fits both poles, pegs and tent. A classic external packsack is also included. Innovative materials Nordisk has attained the low weight of just 880 grams by using new innovative materials: The ultra light 10-denier flysheet has extremely strong properties in proportion to the low weight. The material is 100% rip-stop nylon, which has been coated with three layers of silicone on each side. Nordisk has a unique coating technique that ensures you a flexible yet very strong tent. The tent has a hydrostatic head of 2000 mm and a tearing strength of an amazing 8 kilos despite the low weight. The ground sheet has a hydrostatic head of 8000 mm, which is significantly more waterproof than other lightweight tents. The poles are Nordisk Carbon Poles. Carbon is the lightest material for poles, and carbon poles have a higher breaking strength than aluminium. Nordisk Carbon Poles are high quality 4th generation carbon poles, designed especially by Nordisk. A 4-layer technology with vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines ensures optimal balance between strength and flexibility. The pegs are Nordisk Titanium V-pegs, a very light yet strong peg, which weighs just 9 g each. The guy rope is the ultra strong Dyneema 2.0 mm guy rope, which is strong enough to pull a car. Dyneema 2.0 mm guy rope is slim and lightweight yet very durable and strong. Telemark 2 ULW comes in the colours forest green and burnt red. The Telemark-range also includes a one-person tent and an LW-version, which has aluminium poles.
