Introduction
Welcome to the 9th edition of The Whitetail Guide! We are grateful for the Whitetail Industry’s continued support and dedication to the preservation of records related to these amazing animals that we
hold so “dear”. A special Thank You goes out to Rocky Ridge Whitetails for placing their Breeder bucks
JUMBO & TEXAS TEA on the front cover of The Whitetail Guide. Their support enables us to publish
and preserve another year of great Whitetail Breeder bucks for the industry to enjoy! Make sure to
check out Rocky Ridge Whitetails farm for your future purchases. John Ervin has one of the top producing farms in the country and you can be assured you won’t be disappointed when you buy from
Rocky Ridge Whitetails.

It is interesting to look over the first few editions of the Whitetail Guide. Volume 1 recorded RDM Goliath died in 2004 with his highest score being 410”. It is also amazing to see where the industry came
from, check out the pictures and scores from the bucks recorded in volume 1 an 2 and compare them
with the bucks those farms are growing today. It is an exciting industry to be a part of.
y
l
n
Each year we work hard to contact every farm in the country to have their top breeder bucks listed
and recorded in the Whitetail Guide books. It is amazing to look back and see the path that has led
this industry to where it is today. From the advances in nutrition and genetics, to science and technology, it boggles the mind each antler growing season that comes and goes. 2013 was no exception with
the world record SCI buck being shot scoring 659” and the arrival of even more 400”, 500” and 600”
behemoths also many 300”+ yearlings.

With the ever demanding need of shooter bucks and a shortage of bucks in 2013 again the future continues to look promising for the Whitetail Deer Farmers.
e
l
p
EHD continues to take its toll each year but as farmers learn how to control the bug better I feel it will
be something that can be controlled.
m
a
CWD has also been in the forefront in 2013 with the Flees having a positive case on their hunting
ranch and another positive in the PA wild, plus a few other states. The new CWD standards are being
worked on to better the industry and in hopes of having guidelines for each state.
s
As always, it has been our goal to help provide a central resource of valuable information to the deer
farmer and we feel that this edition should raise that bar even higher. All of the data contained within
these pages has been provided to us and is assumed accurate. The Whitetail Guide has taken every effort to maintain this accuracy, but will not be held responsible for false/misleading information. If you
feel there has been a mistake made, please contact our staff or the listing farm to resolve these issues.
We hope you enjoy this edition as much as we enjoyed gathering the information and we look forward
to serving you in the coming years. Please contact us if you have interest in purchasing past issues or
simply to be included in next year’s edition. Keep your eyes open for our other publications in 2013
including the Super Doe magazine in March and The Fall Edition in August.
Thank you!

Jumbo is the World Record Yearling. This year at 2 Jumbo was very big again. Due to antler infection
we had to remove his antlers early in July. He scored 428” with a full month of growing time left. As
a yearling Jumbo grew nearly a 100” after the time he was cut at 2. We are confident he would have
scored over 500” if he had grown out. Jumbo semen was sold out early in 2013. Semen is very limited
