President’s Report

I want to say thanks to all who made 2014 an outstanding
year. It was a year of achievement that will move our
organization forward.
Just to touch on a few of these accomplishments: We
started by putting a scholarship fund together that would help us establish the OLA
Building Material Degree Program. We did such a fantastic job that not only did we
establish the scholarship fund, we were able to take the next step and work with OSU
OKC in the establishment of the program itself.
In addition to this we formed a group of young building material professionals known
as the MOBB who have been extremely active and will continue to bring new
professionals into our industry. While these are only a few of our successes, I am proud
to say we shared many other great accomplishments which were part of making this a
special year.
I am excited to see the future of the OLA under the leadership of Rich and Diane as they
work with Karen to move this organization forward. Once again, THANKS to all who
helped make 2014 an outstanding year for our organization!

opportunities with the best in the industry, educational programs, and legislative efforts
to protect and improve your business.

you informed on legislative news, lumber industry alerts and educational events.

I would like to say thank you to our 2014 President, Phil Kennedy. His
dedication to the Oklahoma Lumbermen’s Association and hard work this past
year has shown in many of the programs which have flourished including the
Scholarship Fund, Building Degree Program and MOBB group. Phil has been
a good friend, mentor and coach for me.
Our goals for 2015 include recruiting 12 new students for the Building Degree Program, the MOBB
group working on their first fundraising event, raising scholarship funds for our Building Degree
Program and continuing to strengthen our health and supplemental insurance programs.
I would like to encourage our dealer & associate members to attend the upcoming District Meetings.
This is a great opportunity to network with other owners, sales representatives and board members.
I hope everyone will make plans to join us for Summer Fling at the Chickasaw Retreat & Conference
Center, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, on June 12th & 13th. We will have a weekend full of fun things to do
for adults and children, so plan to bring your families and employees.

OLA hosted the first Introduction to
Building Materials Sales wor kshop
on January 13, 2015. There were 19
in attendance. The instructor was
Casey Voorhees, Western Building
Material Association’s Executive
Director.
This workshop focused on providing
basic understanding of building
material operations, product usage in
residential construction and customer
service basics.
One of the attendees, Whitney Kellar
shared these comments: “I feel as the
first half of the class was very helpful
in making people think about how
they act in and out of their job
represents their company as
customers associate who you are to
who your company is. Overall it was
a good class to send a new
employee to. The book, Lumber and
Building Material Reference Manual
is a good resource for tables, graphs
and charts and should be available at
every store!!

MOBB Update

We hope you and yours enjoyed a safe and happy holiday season. Now, we are ready to get back to
work! The MOBB is ready to build off the momentum of 2014 and hit the ground running into a
great 2015. We will continue to focus on leadership, education, and networking.
In conjunction with the Summer Fling, we will be hosting our 1st 5k Walk and Run as our annual
fundraiser. We are in the process of forming a committee and would appreciate any volunteers that
would be willing to help plan this event. Please contact myself or Karen at the OLA office if you
would like to be involved.
Again, we have the full support of the board but would encourage all dealers and associates to get
your next generation involved. Building relationships and knowledge in our industry will pay dividends in the future.
I look forward to seeing your "next generation" at a future MOBB event.

Jay “The Uncle” D. White
November 9, 1927 - January 3, 2015
Jay "The Uncle" D. White passed from this world and was greeted in Heaven by his Lord Jesus, his parents, Myrtle and Gordon White; and
his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Hank Bockus.
Uncle Jay was born in Oklahoma City on November 9, 1927, and died on January 3, 2015. He graduated with honors from Ponca Military
Academy. Following graduation, he enjoyed a 67 year career in the family lumber business, Gordon White Lumber Company. He had a four year stint in
Prineville, Oregon, working for Hudspeth Lumber in the 1950's.
Jay was an outstanding bowler and won the Oklahoma City Championship in 1962, but his first love was his family. He is survived by his three nephews and
spouses, Gordon and Cindy Bockus, Henry and Teresa Bockus, Bruce and Suzanne Bockus, and his one and only niece and husband, Jane Gay and Randy. In
addition, he was surrounded by an adoring multitude of great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at
Southern Plaza Retirement Community. They made Jay a part of their family and he felt cared for by all and especially his buddy, Tim.
Uncle Jay was a special man, who blessed the lives of each of his family members and those who cared enough to call him friend.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 10 AM, at the chapel of Dignity Memorial Park Funeral Home in
Oklahoma City.
Wesley McGlothlin
August 11, 1926 - December 7, 2014
Services were held for Wes McGlothlin at 9:30 A.M. Friday, Dec.12, in the New Beginnings Baptist Church officiated by Pastor
Rusty Westerfield and Gloria Hudson. Interment followed at 2:00 P.M. in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Wes McGlothlin, 88,
of Bixby, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 7, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Shirley
Ann (McGlasson) McGlothlin. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on July 19.
Wes had a passion for music. Multiple grandchildren were the recipients of his beloved instruments. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family. A longtime member of the Bixby Christian Church, he shared his love of Jesus with many. Born in Stone Bluff, Oklahoma, on Aug. 11, 1926, Wes was the only son of
the late Claude and Goldie McGlothlin. Predeceased by three sisters, Edith Williams, Pat Ferguson, and Lenore Allen, he is survived by one sister, Geraldine
Dobbins. Wes left home to join the Navy when he was of age. He served in World War II and actually felt the jolt of the atomic bomb in his bunk as it was
dropped on Japan.
In 1975, Wes founded Bixby Lumber. His son Ronnie McGlothlin purchased the family business in 1989. Today, Building Solutions has been touted by
Pro Sales Magazine as the fourth fastest growing building material supplier in the nation.
In addition to his widow, Wes is survived by his children Novella and Larry Whitely of Bixby, Tesley and Roland Holt of Broken Arrow, Gloria Hudson of Bixby,
Terry and Deb Cumbey of Bixby, Brenda and Nick Nicola of Bixby, Randy and Deborah McGlothlin of Bixby, and Ronnie and Katrina McGlothlin of Bixby. He is
survived by 29 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Wes was preceded in death by his granddaughter Jeanean Whiteley and his son in-law Tom Hudson.
Donald Frank Fox
April 28, 1926 - January 27, 2015
Donald Frank Fox, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age
88. Services were held January 30, 2015 at Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He was born April 28, 1926 in Hollis,
Oklahoma to his parents, Fred and Opal (Wilson) Fox. While attending Hollis High School, Don excelled in athletics having lettered in
football and basketball. He served as the team captain on both teams and played on the 1942 undefeated football team. He was later
inducted into the Hollis Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2014 was honored with the naming of the Don Fox Field House in Hollis, Oklahoma.
On May 19, 1944, he married his sweetheart, Melba Gene Crowley and together they shared 70 years of marriage and raising their 5 sons. Don would often
lovingly refer to his wife as his “little sack of sugar”. A successful business man, Don founded Big Giant Retail and Wholesale Grocery and co-founded Fox
Building Supply, both of which he successfully operated for many years in addition to farming and ranching. Don was always known for doing the right thing,
being honest, reliable and dependable in all dealings whether it involved family, friends, or business. He was optimistic, persistent, charitable, helpful and a true
man of faith. He exemplified Christian characteristics and a daily study and relationship with Christ in every aspect of his life. A longtime member of Southwest
Baptist Church, Don loved and served the Lord, his family and the community with all of his heart. He will be deeply missed.
Don was preceded in death by his: Parents & Son, Donald Fred Fox in 2013. Don leaves cherished memories with his loving: Wife of 70 years, Melba Fox;
Son, Jim Fox and his wife, Paula; Son, Gary Fox and his wife, Sherry; Son, Tim Fox and his wife, Toni; Son, Tom Fox and his wife, Deanna; Daughter-in-law,
Audra Fox; Sister, Susan Fox; Brothers: Tom Aday and Paul Aday; 17 Grandchildren: Greg Fox, Kelly Fox, Charla Brown, J.P. Fox, Kerri Tyler, Mindi McNair,
Sean Fox, Tina McDougal, Brett Fox, Brynnan Fox, Britney Morse, Brielle Simpson, Bailey Hatchell, Makenzi Fox, Tanner Fox, Jacob Fox, and Calledonia Fox;
Numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Milton Jeff “Mutt” Lewis
July 23, 1926—October 31, 2014
Milton Jeff "Mutt" Lewis, builder, visionary, and friend to many, passed away October 31, 2014,
in his home, surrounded by the love of his family. The celebration of his life was at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, November 4 at the First Baptist Church with Randy Southerland officiating. Burial
followed at the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Mutt was born July 23, 1926, to Boone Butler Lewis and Emma Ivie Shaw Lewis in Marlow, Oklahoma. He attended
Duncan schools. After serving his country in the United States Navy, he returned to Duncan and began a long career in
building and development. He married the love of his life, Neda Faye Watson, on August 12, 1949. He then joined Arvel
Duncan, his brother-in-law, to form Duncan-Lewis Construction. He began building a home for his family. Before its
completion, his natural talent as a craftsman and carpenter was recognized, and he sold the home. This began a lifetime of
work building the city that he loved. He built several homes and significant buildings in town such as the Duncan Public
Library at 9th and Ash, the Duncan Banner and many churches and schools. Mutt opened Duncan Builders Supply, which
he owned for over forty years. He went on to acquire Ardmore Lumber, Tish Lumber and Chickasha Lumber. In 1964, he
expanded his business to include MJ Lewis and Associates, a survey and land development company, where he has been
the owner and president.
Mutt was responsible for over thirty subdivisions in the Duncan area. Mutt was a charter member of the Duncan Area
Economic Development Foundation and served as director and trustee for thirty years. He was instrumental in the building
of the Duncan By-Pass as well as bringing several businesses, including Duncan Family Dollar to town. He was a founding
member of the Duncan Industrial Authority and served on many other local committees. He was a member and deacon at
the First Baptist Church. He was on the board of directors for Southwestern Savings and Loan in Chickasha, Home Savings and Loan in Bartlesville and First Bank and Trust in Duncan. In Chickasha, he built the Jane Brooks School for the
Deaf and also served on the school's Board of Directors. At the state level, Mutt served as President of the Oklahoma
Lumberman's Association and was appointed by Governor George Nigh to the state of Oklahoma Judicial Nominating
Committee, the Committee on Jobs for Veterans, and the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency, which he served for under
three governors. In 2012, he was awarded the Will Rogers Statue of Achievement for a lifetime of service, leadership and
inspiration.
In 1955, Mutt joined Trinity Baptist Church, where he was saved and baptized. He was instrumental in putting together a
group of volunteers who built the church building. Years later, he joined First Baptist Church, where he served as a
deacon. Mutt and Neda enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage and made many beautiful and joyous memories. Their
children: Karla Lewis Dillon and her husband Johnny Dillon, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Mike and Jackie Lewis, of Duncan;
Kim Lewis, of Duncan; Kelly Lewis and Vicki Aldridge, of Duncan; grandchildren, Jeff Dillon, Jenna Dillon Gasparino and
Billy Gasparino, Lee Lewis, Jay Lewis, Matt Lewis, Jon Lewis, and Jessica Lewis; and their great-grandchildren, Hannah
Dillon, Will Gasparino, and MacArthur Lewis; are very grateful for their time spent with their father and grandfather out at
"the ranch," the golf course or just sitting quietly on the back porch. He was an inspiration in all of their lives and to this
community and will be greatly missed. He is also survived by two sisters, Loretta Howell and Ruby Ballard, of Duncan;
many nieces and nephews; and other special family members. His family would like to say a special thank-you to his
niece, Christy White, who provided much love and care during his illness.

individuals, by making a donation in their memory to the
OLA Scholarship Fund.

ECi Acquires Spruce Computer Systems
Fort Worth, TX—Wednesday, January 14, 2015

If you purchased coverage from a federal or state marketplace, you may be allowed to take the Premium Tax Credit. If you opted for advanced payments of the premium tax credit to help with your monthly insurance premium payments, you must file a tax return to claim the premium tax credit
even if you were not otherwise required to file.
You will need Form 1095-A from your marketplace. Complete Form 8962 to claim the credit and to reconcile your advance credit payments. Include
Form 8962 with your 1040, 1040A, or 1040NR.
TIP - If you opted for advance payments of the premium tax credit to help with your monthly insurance payments, your advance credit payments may be more
than the premium tax credit you are allowed. If this is the case, you have excess payments that must be repaid through a reduced refund or by making an additional payment when you file your return.
