Irving MacArthur State Champs!
IRVING MACARTHUR (37-2) The #3 Lady Cardinals of coach Suzie
Oelschlegel had another banner year as
they first won their district championship
outright with an unblemished 16-0 district
record that propelled them into the postseason where they took it all the way to
the Drum in Austin where they ended up
as State Champions for 2011! MacArthur
won their 2nd Region I Tournament by
beating Mansfield 70-47, Lewisville 7257, Plano West 71-58, North Crowley
68-55 and Midland 55-40 to take it to
the Big Dance. In State Semi-finals they
beat #13 San Antonio Wagner 64-51 to
advance to the finals. In the championship game the Cardinals came out on top
taking out #5 Georgetown 74-51 to take
home the gold and finish as the #1 team in
the State. The 11-12 Red & White will
be tough to beat with 5 lettermen, led by
4 starters return for this years playoff ride.
Look for the CARDINALS to shoot for a
repeat in 2012!

III. Alief Elsik
GEORGETOWN (33-4) - The #5
Lady Eagles had another banner season
last year winning the district crown
outright with an unblemished 12-0 record
and then riding the momentum all the
way to the Drum. The Royal Blue &
White took their 8th Region II Crown
by beating Austin Anderson 59-32,
Klein Forest 56-29, Humble Atascocita
60-55, Killeen Ellison 51-33 and #6
Pflugerville 68-56 to take it to Austin.
In the State Semi-finals the GHS beat
Alief Elsik 56-51, before falling to #3
Irving MacArthur 74-51 in the State
finals to end a brilliant season. Coach
Rhonda Farney will be loaded this year
with ten returning lettermen including two
returning starters for this years playoff
edition. Look for the EAGLES to soar in
the playoffs and another trip to the Drum
in 2012!
SAN ANTONIO WAGNER (32-7) The #13 Thunderbirds took the district
crown last season with an undefeated
10-0 record that propelled them into the
playoffs where they fought all the way
to the Drum in Austin. The Red, Black
& White won their second Region IV
Championship by beating San Antonio
MacArthur 49-29 Northside O’Connor
54-41, #12 Northside Jay 54-41, Harlingen South 66-51, and Corpus Christi
King 45-33 to take it to the Drum. In
the State Semi-finals they were set back
by #3 Irving MacArthur, the eventual
State Champion 64-51 to end a super
year. Coach Christina Comacho will
have an impressive seven lettermen back
including three starters returning off of
last years State Semifinalist team. Look

ALIEF ELSIK (31-6) - The Lady Rams of coach LaShawn Johnson added to the history at Elsik by
making it to the State tournament for the 5th time in the school’s history. The Navy, Blue , Columbia Blue
& White took the Region III Championship by beating Houston Cypress Creek, 58-48, Katy Cinco Ranch
51-33, Cypress Woods 60-54, League City Clear Springs 63-56, and #10 Galena Park North Shore 63-56
to earn their ticket to the Big Dance. In the State Semi-finals Elsik was defeated by #5 Georgetown 56-51 to
end a brilliant year. The 11-12 Navy, Blue , Columbia Blue & White will return a solid lineup of 6 lettermen,
led by 3 starters for this years run to the Drum.

Canyon takes home the gold!
CANYON (38-0) - The # Lady Eagles were
outright District Champs again to defend their district
crown with an unblemished 14-0 record and advanced
all the way to the Drum in Austin in 2011 where they
were crowned the 4A State Champions! Canyon took
their 23rd Region I Championship by beating Wichita
Falls 60-31, El Paso Burges 62-43, Wolfforth Frenship 59-34, #3 Mansfield Summit 29-26, and #12
Plainview 42-40 to take it to the Drum. In the State
Semi-finals they defeated Beaumont Ozen 44-39,
before they took the Crown with a 44-39 win over
Austin Johnson. The 11-12 Purple & White have
a solid crew returning as seven lettermen, including
two starters will make up this years playoff edition.
Veteran coach Joe Lombard (1100 wins and 98 losses
in 34 years) will have another excellent roster that
welcomes back 11 veterans , including 2 starters for
this years campaign. Look for the EAGLES to add to
their tradition of 23 Region I Championships, returning to the Drum to defend their title in 2012!

III. Beaumont Ozen
BEAUMONT OZEN (33-4) - The Lady Panthers
made school history as they made their 1st trip to the
Drum by winning the Region III tournament championship by defeating Houston North Forest 84-31,
Magnolia 61-35, Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill 47-43,
Angleton 56-45, and #19 Huntsville 58-57 to advance
to Austin. In the State Semi-finals the Blue & Yellow
lost to powerhouse #1 Canyon 44-39 to end a super
season. The 11-12 Lady Panthers of coach Tammy
Walker-Brown are loaded and ready for another run,
returning no less than 11 lettermen, led by 4 starters
for this years campaign. Look for the PANTHERS to
roar through the playoffs and be on a mission to bring
home the gold in 2012!
DALLAS LINCOLN (29-4) - The Tigers of coach
Michael Ensley added to the their tradition as they
won their 10th trip to the State tourney in the schools
history. The Purple & White took the Region II
Championship by beating Dallas Seagoville 81-5,
Frisco Liberty 55-44, #18 Rockwall 50-47, Jackson-

coach Marsha Renee Brown had her team turn in a
great year by being the first team from LBJ to make
it to State. The Purple & White won the Region IV
Championship by beating Dripping Springs 72-40,
#8 Boerne Champion 69-42, #13 Cedar Park 58-40,
Hidalgo Early College 62-35, and Cedar Park Vista
Ridge 43-29 to earn their ticket to the Drum. In the
State semis the Jaguars defeated Lincoln by beating
them 59-48 to advance to the title game. In the finals
LBJ lost a close game to tradition laden #1 Canyon
44-39 to end a brilliant year. The 11-12 Purple &
White edition returns only 1 starter and a total of 4
lettermen for this years playoff entry. Look for JAGUARS to climb back into the playoffs and extend their
season in 2012!

WYLIE (26-14) - The #1Lady
Bulldogs had a slow start, but a strong
finish, winning the district title outright
with an undefeated 8-0 and then going
all the way to the Drum in Austin in
the playoffs and winning the State 3A
Championship! The Purple & Gold
won their 7th Region I Championship in the school’s history by beating
Mineral Wells 71-49, Decatur 62-37,
Shallowater 59-44, and #3 Kennedale
59-33 to take it to Austin. In the State
Semi-finals they beat Rockport-Fulton
61-38, and beat Lucas Lovejoy 66-58
in the finals to win the coveted title, and
end up as the #1team in the State.Coach
Tri Danley has to be looking forward to
defending their title with no less than
ten lettermen returning including FOUR
starters back from last years State
Champs! Look for the DAWGS to have
a banner season and their best year yet,
as the tradition continues in 2012!
LUCAS LOVEJOY (29-11) - The
Leopards of coach Kelley Connor
made school history as the first team
to make it to the State tournament by
winning the Region II tournament by
beating Argyle 68-64, Sanger 59-55,
#8 Texarkana Liberty-Eylau 66-61,
and Longview Spring Hill 63-40 to
advance to Austin. In the State Semifinals the Red & Black defeated #7
Fairfield 62-44, to send them to the
championship game. In the finals the
Leopards were in the thick of things
until the end as #1 Abliene Wylie came
out on top 66-58 to end a great season
for the Lovejoy. The 11-12 Red & Black
will have 5 lettermen, including 1 starter for
next years campaign. Look for Lovejoy to
make another run in the playoffs in 2012!
ROCKPORT-FULTON (35-3) - The
Lady Pirates had a super year as they won
their first Region IV Championship, to advance to the Drum. The Green & Gold had
victories over Raymondville 58-29, Needville 57-44, Yoakum 59-39, and Salado 6959 to get their ticket to the Drum. In the State
Semi-finals the Lady Pirates of coach Chris
Bentley bowed out to #1 Abilene Wylie 6138 to end a brilliant season. Coach Bentley
is all smiles as he has a solid core of veterans
returning for the 11-12 season as 7 playoff

FAIRFIELD (27-11) - The #7 Eagles made school history by becoming the first team in their high school history to make it to State for
the first time. The Maroon & Gold finished tied for first in the district
race, winning the crown with an excellent 8-2 record and then going on
to the post-season where they made it all the way to the Drum in Austin
and the State Semi-finals. The Eagles won the Region III Tournament
by defeating #13 Brownsboro 54-46, #5 Madisonville 47-32, Smithville 62-45, and Lorena 47-43 to earn their ticket to the Big Dance. In
the State Semis Lucas Lovejoy came out as the victors 62-44, to end an
outstanding season. Coach Stephen Heers will welcome back nine lettermen including three starters returning to build this years edition around.
Look for the EAGLES to be on a mission to return to the Drum and bring
home the gold in 2012!

Brock takes home the gold!
BROCK (35-5) - The #2 Brock Lady
Eagles won their 17th appearance at the
State tourney in the school’s history, and a
record 5 State Championships and were on
a mission to win their 3rd straight State title. The Royal Blue & Gold won the Region II Championship beating #15 Krum
42-25, Gunter 42-36, Alvord 44-29,
Grandview 43-33, and Godley 43-33 to
march back to Austin. In the State SemiFinals the Eagles found themselves in a
hard fought game that had them trailing
by 7 points at half time to a fired up San
Saba squad that refused to quit. Brock
prevailed winning 37-32, to advance to
the title game where the Royal Blue &
Gold added to their tradition to take home
the GOLD and end up the #1 team in the
State. The Brock Lady Eagles of coach
Skip Townsend have a good chance of
returning back to the Drum in 2012, with
a team loaded with 3 starters plus their 6th
man for the 11-12 season, and 6 lettermen
for this years atttack. Look for Brock to
make another run to the Drum and go after
their 4th consecutive State Championship
in 2012!
WINNSBORO (33-7) - The #3 Lady
Raiders had another great year as they
the District Championship with a perfect
14-0 record and advanced all the way to
the State finals before falling to Brock
47-26 for the Gold prize. The 11-12 Red
& Black will return 7 lettermen, including
4 starters plus a District Champ JV to fill
any voids for this years edition. Coach
Buddy Hawkins retired this past season as
his team fell short of getting their 4th State
title, but added to the tradition marking
their 12th trip to Austin in the school’s history. The Red, Black, & White won the
Region III Championship by beating #16
White Oak 87-48, Tatum 83-54, Woden
53-29, #8 Daingerfield 69-43 to take it to
Austin. In ths State Semi-finals they beat
#4 Poth 59-52, but ended up bowing out
to old rival #2 Brock 47-26 to end another
great run. Look for the LADY RAIDERS
which have a great tradition and are on
an incredible run of 9 trips to State in the
last 13 years to make another run back to
the Drum in 2012, under the direction of
coach Chris Lewis!

until 3 minutes left in the game before falling to #3 Brock 37-32 to end a brilliant

campaign. Look for the DILLOS to make another run in the playoffs in 2012!
POTH (29-6) - The #4 Pirettes from Poth made their 11th trip to the Drum,
and their 3rd consecutive State appearance shooting for another title run and
to add to their tradition. Coach Peggy Hosek’s team won their 11th Region IV
Championship by turning back #13 Bishop 74-53, Kingsville Academy 71-50,
Hempstead 50-40, and Cameron Yoe 53-34 to take their show to the Drum. In
the State Semi-finals the Navy Blue & Gold bowed out to #3 Winnsboro 59-52
to end a great year. The 11-12 Navy Blue & Gold are loaded for next years playoff action returning 12 lettermen, led by 4 starters for another run to the Drum in
2012 and a shot at that elusive State title. Look for POTH to return to the Drum
in 2012!

1 with wins over Ivanhoe Rayburn 52-23,
La Rue LaPoynor 61-37, Zavalla 62-36, and
Honey Grove 69-44 to punch their ticket to
State. In the State Semi-Finals the Stangs held
off a determined team from Muenster 49-31 to
advance to the finals. In the Championship game
the Maroon & White bowed out to #1 Smyer
52-49 to end a brilliant season. Coach Barncastle will have a solid team returning with 8
lettermen, led by 3 starters for this years edition.
With 6 consecutive trips to the State tournament,
2012 will be more of the same as the tradition

NECHES (37-4) - The #2 Lady Tigers of
Neches were making their 3rd run to State in the
5 on 5 competition and adding to their tradition after making 4 previous State tournament
appearance in the 70’s, by winning their second
consecutive State Championship in 2011, and
will be gunning for a third in 2012 . Coach Andy
Snider’s team won the Region III Championship
by beating Martinsville 69-18, #9 Goodrich
65-42, Savoy 64-38, and Saltillo 68-50 to propel
them back to Austin. The Hunter Green &
White defeated Lipan 65-26 with a high energy,
hustling defense in the Semis to propel them into

SMYER (35-2). The #1 Lady Cats of coach
Leland Bearden made their 2nd trip to Austin,
and won their 2nd State Championship in a row
making school history. The Blue & White won
the Region I championship by defeating #16 Big
Lake Reagan County 46-32, Tahoka 63-38, #7
Panhandle 56-50, and #5 Sudan 34-30 to advance to the Big Dance. In the State Semi-finals
they defeated #13 Muenster 56-40 to advance to
the finals. In the State finals the CATS edged #4
Martin’s Mill 52-49 to bring home the gold and
preserve their #1 ranking.. Coach Bearden is all
smiles, virtually returning his whole team with
8 lettermen, led by all 5 starters are ready to go
for the Tri-vecta. Look for Smyer to use their
talent and leadership to bring home their 3rd consecutive State Championship in 2012!

(30-8) - The Lady Panthers made it to the State tournament for the first time

direction of coach Joshua Jourden. The Red & Black won the Region Championship by

it to the Drum. In the Semi-Finals the Red & Black defeated the Knippa 50-41 to advance to the

their second consecutive State title 65-44 to end a great year for the Whitharral. The 11-12 Red &
Black are loaded with 11 lettermen, led by 4 starters returning for this years campaign. Look for the
