what is Multinorm?
Multinorm means many norms - which is exactly what Blåkläder Multinorm is! The Blåkläder range offers the optimal protection, comfort and
functionality for those who work in harsh environments.
Some workers are continuously exposed to tough environments and the risks that come with these.
Moreover, several of these environments expose workers to a combination of risks at the same time.
Multinorm protection limits the potential threats of a number of these risks, and reduces the risk for
personal injury through its high level of protection.
In order to ensure Multinorm garments provide the maximum protection, our garments comply strictly
with the European standards outlined in this folder. Your garment has labels and hangtags to tell you
which protective clothing standards it meets.
Flame protection
There are two different methods for producing flame-retardant fabrics, and the Blåkläder Multinorm
range offers garments made in both kinds of fabric, chemical treated fabric and inherent fabric. Both
of the Blåkläder Multinorm fabrics are extremely soft and comfortable – you hardly recognize
that these fabrics are high-performance flame materials – they simply feel like one more Blåkläder
quality material.
Inherent fabric means that the fabric itself is woven from flame-retardant fibres, so the flame protection is built into the fabric. These properties are life-long, and cannot be “washed out”.
Our chemically treated FR fabric is treated with Pyrovatex, which provides good protection and still lets
the fabric keep its softness and breathability. There is a direct link between the fibre and Pyrovatex, so
the treatment cannot be removed over time. Neither abrasion nor washing can make Pyrovatex disappear. Pyrovatex treated fabrics meet Oeko-tex 100 requirements, product class II (direct skin contact).
Flame-retardant fabrics have properties that reduce the flammability of the fabrics and/ or limit the
flame spread. The safety and high level of protection are the 100% focus for Blåkläder, to give you the
optimal workwear. Therefore, we strongly recommend you only use the garment for its recommended
life and you follow the care instructions.

Multinorm Blåkläder
ULTIMATEPROTECTION
We believe strongly in providing you with the ultimate protection, combined
with the true Blåkläder DNA: Quality, functionality and design. Our garments
meet the standards for visibility, FR protection, and welding, electric arc,
discharge of static charge as well as for chemicals, rain and cold.
HIGH VISIBILITY
All garments are of course certified for high visibility. Most work-related incidents happen due to bad
visibility and therefore it is a given for Blåkläder to provide high visibility garments in the full Multinorm
assortment. All our garments are designed so reflectors are visible from all directions - even when
bending down – everything needed to provide maximum visibility at all times and everywhere.
FLAME PROTECTION AND WELDING
The complete assortment of Blåkläder Multinorm garments provides a high level of flame protection
when welding. The main reason for wearing FR clothing is to ensure the garments do not catch fire and
/ or to limit flame spread. All of the garments also conform with the EN-standard for welding, and the
Multinorm range protects you from harm when exposed to heat and flame.
ANTISTATIC
We use antistatic material in all our Multnorm garments to decrease static build-up in the garments,
to protect against sparks. Therefore, we recommend the Blåkläder Multinorm range for work in ATEX
classified environments (in some ATEX classified environments special protective clothing is required).
ELECTRIC ARC
Many industrial jobs put electricians and utility workers at risk from electrical hazards. Wearing normal clothing during exposure to an electric arc can cause injuries that are more severe than if clothes
were not worn at all. The built-in protection against electric arc hazards in the Blåkläder Multinorm
collection, makes it ideal for those exposed to intense heat from arc flashes and it provides durable
protection from electric arc for electricians, electrical contractors and other professionals who may
potentially be exposed to electric arc flash. We recommend wearing combinations of garments certified according to EN-61482-1-2 class 1 for all layers. It is important to protect the entire body, therefore
please also use adequate protection for your face, neck, hands and feet.
TOUGH WEATHER
Tough weather conditions are an everyday fact of life for many people working outside in harsh environments. Blåkläder Multinorm Winter garments are waterproof, windproof and, of course, fulfil EN 343
class 3, as well as thermal insulation to EN342.
LIQUID CHEMICALS
In the Multinorm Winter range you will also find type 6 protective clothing for protection against liquid
chemicals, i.e. intended for use when wearers are able to take timely adequate action if their clothing
becomes contaminated. These risks could be a potential exposure to small quantities of spray or accidental, low volume, splashes.

CERTIFICATIONSYMBOLS
EN 471
Protective clothing certified to EN 471 provides high visibility in dangerous situations
during all hours of the day. Requirements are
set for luminance and reflection. The garment is certified relative to the area of visible
surface material.
EN ISO 11612
Protective clothing certified to ISO 11612 protects
against brief contact with heat and flame. The
standard is divided into different categories, where
the code letters indicate which heat and flame
requirements the garment fulfils. Each category is
subdivided into different levels, depending on how
good the protection is.
(A1) Limited flame spread
(A2) Limited flame spread, hemmed specimens
(B) Convective heat, scale 1-3 where 3 is the best
(C) Radiant heat, scale 1-4, where 4 is best
(D) Molten aluminium splash, scale 1-3 where 3 is
the best
(E) Molten iron splash, scale 1-3 where 3 is the best
(F) Contact Heat, scale 1-3 where 3 is the best
EN ISO 11611
Protective clothing certified to EN 11611 provides protection against spatter (small splashes
of molten metal) and brief contact with flame.
Class 1 - Protects against less hazardous welding techniques and situations, causing lower
spatter and radiant heat
Class 2 - Protects against riskier welding
techniques and situations, which causes higher
levels of spatter and radiant heat
EN 1149-5
Protective clothing certified to EN 1149-5
provides protection against electrostatic build
up and limits the potential risk of ignition. The
garment should be used as a part of an earthed
electrical system to prevent sparks.

EN 61482-1-2
Protective clothing certified to EN61482-1-2 provides protection against the thermal hazards of
an electric arc. The standard tells if the garment
protects against electric arc and it is divided into
classes.
Class 1 - Protection against electric arc 4kA
Class 2 - Protection against electric arc 7kA
EN 13034 type 6
Protective clothing to EN 13034 provides protection against liquid chemicals and is intended for
use if the risks are assessed as low and a full
liquid permeation barrier is not necessary, i.e.
when wearers are able to take timely adequate
action if their clothing becomes contaminated.
Low risks could be a potential exposure to small
quantities of spray or accidental, low volume,
splashes.
The garment is tested at an arc voltage of up to
approximately 400 V with an arc duration of 500 ms.
EN 342
EN 343
Protective clothing certified to EN 342 protects
against cold surroundings. This standard
includes requirements for insulation and vapour
permeability.
Protective clothing certified to EN 343 protects
against rain, snow, fog and ground moisture. The
garment and seams are tested for water penetration resistance and vapour resistance.

MATERIALS
Material 1506
In the unlined Blåkläder Multinorm garments, we have a satin weave, called 1506 which is treated with
Pyrovatex. This is a strong and comfortable material with a weight of 290g/m² and it has the following
composition: 74% cotton, 25% polyester, 1% antistatic. The material meets the standards for EN 471,
EN 1149-5, EN 61482-1-2 (class 1), ISO 11611 (class 1, A1) and ISO 11612 (A1, B1, C1).
Material 1530
In the lined winter garments, we have an inherent PU-laminated twill fabric, called 1530. This is a waterproof and extremely comfortable material with a weight of 300g/m² and it has following composition: 55% Protex, 43% cotton, 2% Negastat®. The material meets the standards for EN 471, EN 11495, EN 61482-1-2 (class 1), ISO 11611 (class 1, A1), ISO 11612 (A1, B1, C1), EN 343 3/3 and EN 13034-1.
MAINTENANCE &
EMBELLISHMENT
Is it important to wash flame-retardant garments?
It is important to wash flame retardant garments frequently to prevent dirt and other flammable materials accumulating on the garment. Try to air the garment if not soiled. Close all zippers, buttons and
Velcro fasteners to avoid damaging the fabric during the wash cycle. Lining and reflective areas should
be treated and washed carefully.
When washing flame-retardant garments, it is important to observe the recommended washing instructions. You can see the maximum recommended washing cycles on the washing instructions on
the garment. Please use only synthetic detergents (not soap), when washing flame-retardant garments. The detergents should not contain bleaching agents. The flame-retardant garments should be
washed separately from non-flame-retardant garments. If dry-cleaning, do not use acids. Keep the
garments clean for the maximum protective effect!
If the garment needs to be repaired, this must be done with fabric that meets the requirements for
the standards to which the garment has been certified. If a garment has been in direct contact
with flame, and/or strong heat, the fabric might be weakened and therefore, it should be discarded.
If the garment has been exposed to chemicals, which have penetrated the fabric, this normally means
a degradation in the garment's protection and it should be considered whether the garment should be
discarded and replaced.
According to EN ISO 11612, all labels, decoration and reflectors that are added to the outside of the
garment must have similar flame-retardant performance as the material to which it is affixed. Flameretardant transfer print and embroidery using flame-retardant thread is possible. However, it should
be noted that this can reduce the garments overall flame-retardant capability.
