World Aids day at Esperance
orld AIDS Day
is held on 1
December each
year and is an opportunity
for people worldwide to
unite in the fight against
HIV, show their support
for people living with HIV
and to commemorate
people who have died.
World AIDS Day was the
first ever global health day
and the first one was held
in 1988.
World AIDS Day is important
as it reminds the public and
policymakers that HIV has not
gone away – there is still a
need to raise money, increase
awareness, fight prejudice and

he youth, in holidays,
are being prepared
in civic education to
acquire the Rwandan culture
that good citizens are required
to possess. They are gaining
not only education about
the values and norms that
prevent them from bad habits
but also they participate in
different activities for the
welfare of the communities.
The Ministry of Youth and
ICT calls on parents to allow
participants of the
World Aids day
improve education.
On 1st of December 2015, the
youth at Kimisagara Football
for Hope Center agreed that IT
IS TIME TO ACT against HIV/
AIDS. Through their messages,
which they created together
with their coaches,
young boys and girls
shared information
and
knowledge,
they have about
the
fight
and
prevention against
HIV/AIDS.
„We,
the young people
should always be
aware of dangers
and actions from
our surroundings,
which
can
be
responsible for us to get HIV like
bad people, who provide us with
things we may need for having
sex in return.“, one message
says. A very important day for
all participants at Kimisagara
Youth Center!

General?
My idol is my mom, because
she is the only person, who is
taking care of me at home.
6. What is the most incredible
thing, that always stays in
your mind until now?
When I was 8 eight years old, I
fell down and lost some teeth...

Esperance´s programs?
I am here since 2009.
8. How did you get to know
Esperance?
I used to come to games of
Esperance as a fan.
9. What did you learn from
Esperance up to now?
I improved my football skills a lot.
When I first came to Esperance,
my skills as a goalkeeper were
not as good as now.
10. Which support are you
gaining right now?
I gain a lot of experience through
playing football.
11. Where would you like to
be supported even more?
I would love to get enough
materials from Esperance to
keep playing soccer and if
possible have my school fees
paid, because my family can´t
afford them.
12. What do other kids from
Esperance benefit from?
Every child here at Esperance
can improve it´s football skills.
13. How did you change
yourself?
Before I was joining Esperance,
I was behaving very badly
by insulting people, fighting
and not respecting anyone,
but through workshops and
methods of Esperance, they
were able to give me advice on
how to behave correctly.

To all those, who still have bad
behaviour: I hope, they can
change it in a positive way!

say to Esperance´s staff?
I very much appreciate the way,
they let us play football and give
us helpful advices.

Many of my friends dropped out
of school, but with the help of
Esperance, they all went back

I will be 27 years old. I hope, that

thing, I really don´t like is

because he plays on the same
position as I do on the pitch

General?
My father, because he teaches
me great values like not taking
drugs, not drinking alcohol and
always planning for a better
future.
6. What is the most incredible
thing, that always stays in
your mind until now?
When I got injured in 2010, I
broke my arm and it was very,
very painful, that I thought, it
would never heal. But thanks to
god, I am fine now.
7. Since when do you attend
Esperance´s programs? I got
to know Esperance in 2007
How did you get to know
Esperance? I used to come to
Esperance games as a fan.
8. What did you learn from
Esperance up to now?
I definitely improved my football
sills,
Through
Esperance
training sessions, I am now able
to play in the 2nd league.
9. Which support are you
gaining right now?
Being able to play in the 2nd
league championship. This
might help me to play in the 1st
league in the future and then I
will earn money.
10. Where would you like to
be supported even more?
Just to keep having football
sessions and trainings. Maybe,
I need to be more encouraged
and supported with materials
like football cleats or a new
jersey.
11. How did you change
yourself?
I stopped fighting and insulting
others.

behaviour-change from other
players did you recognize?
They used to get angry and
fight during football games but
through workshops and talks
we get from Esperance, my
teamplayers
stopped
misbehaving on the pitch and
are now like role-models.

to kids, who come to
Esperance?

Esperance
is
a
good
organization. Not only the
beneficiaries improve their
football skills but also they learn
how to live peacefully and with
respect in the society. We learn
how to avoid drug abuse, which
is a serious problem among
young people.
14. What would you like to
tell Esperance´s staff?
Many thanks to everything,
they do for us. If I wasn´t at
Esperance, I wouldn´t have
had such a promising and good
future.
15. Where do you see yourself
in ten years?
I will be 28 years old. I wish to
be a football professional player
in Rwanda or abroad. And with
the help of Esperance, I am
sure, that I can make it.

like to listen to music, especially
R&B, the „Urban boyz“ and
Chris Brown.
3. What don´t you like?
Drugs, because people always
get themselves in trouble and
when they become addicted,
they can die.
4. Who is your football idol?
My favourite player is Eden
Hazard, because I like to see
the way, he is dribbling.
5. Who is your idol in
General?
My idol is his excellence
Paul Kagame, our president,
because of his engagement
to govern our country and to
help other countries for better
government. He helps people
to fight poverty and he is
focused on the development of
our country.
6. What is the most incredible
thing, that always stays in
your mind until now?
The first goal, I scored for
Esperance, because it was
the first game of Esperance
and my first time to play in
championship, so it was a
wonderful start.

Esperance´s programs?
Iam here since 2009.
8. How did you get to know
Esperance?
I saw Esperance FC playing
and I wanted to be part of that
team, because everyone was
supporting one another.
9. What did you learn from
Esperance up to now?
Living together with others,
respecting
other
people,
improving my football skills,
preventing me from taking
drugs and taking part in any
other type of trouble, which I
learned through workshops.
10. Which support are you
gaining right now?
Improving my football skills,
to be able to play for the 1st
league in the future and also to
guide me, how to reach a better
future.
11.Where would you like to
be supported even more?
I would like Esperance´s staff
to always be there for us and
to support us with materials
and if possible to give us some
motivation, because our parents
think, that we get some money
for playing for Esperance.

Esperance benefit from?
They
all
changed
their
behaviour in a positive way and
discovered their talents.

yourself?
I insulted and fought with other
kids, but through Esperance, I

was able to stop doing that.

Some kids used to drink beer,
to use drugs, but since they are
in Esperance, they no longer
do that.

to kids, who come to
Esperance?
They should think about
themselves
and
their
behaviours, they should reflect
on their needs and they should
understand, that they are
supposed to be the first ones
looking for solutions.
16. What is your message to
Youth in General in Rwanda?
The future of Rwanda depends
on us, the young people.
17. Where do you see yourself
in ten years?
I will be 28 years old and I wish,
that my mom is still alive. I would
like to play in the 1st league
either in Rwanda or abroad.

2. What do you like most?
Foot, especially French Fries
and mashed corn!
3. What don´t you like?
Fighting, because it is not good.
I know that, because I used to
fight with other kids, when I was
12.
4. Who is your football idol?
Vincent Kompany, because
I like his style of playing, for
example how he stands on the
pitch and also, how he manages
to control the balls coming from
the air.
5. Who is your idol in
General?
My idol is his excellence
Paul Kagame, our president,
because I like the way, he is
governing our country and also,
he manages, that Rwanda is a
peaceful country.
6. What is the most incredible
thing, that always stays in
your mind until now?
When I was young, I was
carrying a tea pot with boiled
water. I fell and the biled water
reached my skin and my skin
was burned. I still have marks
today.

I got to know Esperance in
2008

Esperance?
I was always watching, when
Esperance had
football
tournaments in Kimisagara
Youth Center. I liked the way,
the players were behaving as
a team and I wanted to be part
of it.
9. What did you learn from
Esperance up to now?
I learned to live in a society and
to get along with every person.
10. Which support are you
gaining right now?
Playing in the league, being
known as a football player,
making friends and practicing
skills.
11. Where would you like to
be supported even more?
I would like to get enough
materials like football cleats,
jersey, socks, shinguards and
some other stuff.
12. How did you change
yourself? I never listened or
respected anyone, who was
talking to me, but now, I respect
every opinion and besides that,
I also changed physically due to
the professional football training
by Esperance.

behaviour-change from other
players did you recognize?

Some kids were always using
bad expressions. Others also
used to participate in some
robbery or stealing in their
neighbourhood. Now, all of them
become serious xoncerning
school and behaviour.
15. What is your message to
Youth in General in Rwanda?
Young people should work
together, collaborate, respect
each other for a better future
and if possible, they should
come to Esperance.
18. Where do you see yourself
in ten years?
I wish to have a good life and
if possible, I would like to have
15.000.000 RWF, which are
supposed to help me taking care
of people, who are in need.

HOLIDAYS!
INALLY!
The
holidays activities
have started at
Esperance!
we offer traditional art
workshops and some
health care workshops
for the kids, who want
to attend the program.
Additionally, the children
have the opportunity to
attend English course
lessons during holidays
in order to improve their
language skills.
Esperance has organized
multiple events for the
children, who will last
throughout the holidays.
The school year 2015 has
ended and all the final
exams are finished.
Esperance invites every
boy and girl around
Kimisagara Football for Hope
Center to come to Esperance
and attend the championships
and the workshops. But all kids
from Kigali are welcome to

the
holidays,
Esperance organizes a football
championship, a Mini-football
championship and a tabletennis
competition.
Also,
At the end of the holidays, we
have planned a big celebration
festival of 2015 in order to
finish the year with such a great
event.

new faces!
