This material consists of a story which talks about
earthquake preparedness; what to do and what
not to do when an earthquake happens. It is
illustrated with vivid pictures using the theme of a
daily life story. It aims to introduce the procedures
on how to evacuate from school building.
It is user friendly. The narrative text on the the
back of the pictures helps teachers to read the
story. Teachers can use it as a story sequence or
stand-alone picture to reinforce their teaching.

participants understanding. There is one manual
card providing list of activities/games to play
utilising these flash cards. It is illustrated with

A 30 minute school based drama dealing with how to
prepare for an earthquake. The conversations in the drama between
students and teachers are mostly conducted using a combination of Indonesian and American Sign
Language with written subtitles. This material assists teachers who have limited teaching capacity
to teach students with hearing impairment. The drama is self explanatory and easy to follow by all
ages. A VCD player is required.
VCD for Multihazards Preparedness
for Students with Hearing Impairment

Teachers, students with hearing impairment of
elementary, secondary, high schools and special needs
schools. Students with other disabilities. Regular
students of all ages.

subtitle (Voice dubbing is in Indonesian only).
A 60 minute school based drama consisting of 4 separate stories of how to prepare for 4 different
hazards (floods volcanoes, landslides, and whirlwinds). The drama is set up to be used in inclusive
settings with students with different disabilities, together with regular students. Indonesian Sign
Language combined with American Sign Language is used; however subtitles and voice dubbing
make it accessible for people without knowledge of sign language. This material assists teachers
who have limited teaching capacity to teach students with hearing impairment. The drama is selfexplanationary and easy to follow by all ages. A VCD player is required.

Handicap International - Bangladesh, and jointly translated and

book are mostly for schools. However, this book can be used as a
guide to design physical accessibility for most places in order to widen
and improve access for people with disabilities.
