Emerald Coast Poker Run here
WWW.EMERALDCOASTPOKERRUN.COM 23550.indd 1 8/12/16 8:44 AM LETTER FROM THE ECF PRESIDENT Welcome to the 24th ECF Poker Run, better known as the “Big One”! We are proud to say we have grown to be one of the largest poker runs in the U.S. in these 24 years, and we have all of you to thank. We work hard all year to put together a fun filled week of boat adventures for you, and, of course, it doesn’t hurt that the run is on the most beautiful beaches and emerald green waters in the country! We hope you enjoy each and every party, stop and moment. The truly great part of the ECF Poker Run, aside from the thrills and the fun, is, of course, the thousands of dollars that will be raised for local children’s charities. We are humbled by the fact that in the last 24 years, well over a million dollars has been donated to support our most valuable resource, our children. When groups of people can come together, have a great time, and raise that much money, well, it doesn’t get any better than that! We thank all of our sponsors, The IP Casino Resort and Spa, Florida Powerboat Club and Stu Jones, and the hundreds of volunteers it takes to make Boat Week happen. We thank our benefiting charities, Children In Crisis, The Eleanor Johnson Foundation, All Sports and The Arc of the Emerald Coast for all they do for children each and every day. And we mostly thank YOU, for choosing to support the ECF Poker Run. Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of “The Big One”, so mark your calendars. We intend to celebrate this milestone in style, and you won’t want to miss it! Now get your motors running! LA Woodall President, Emerald Coast Foundation 23550.indd 2 8/12/16 8:44 AM The strength of the Emerald Coast Foundation is its ability to achieve its mission: ECF is committed to “Investing in Youth” in Northwest Florida. This capacity is encapsulated in a number of fundraising activities that take place throughout the year. The largest is the Emerald Coast Poker Run, held in August each year. This tremendous event, hosted by ECF, is one of the largest boat poker run in the country. The Emerald Coast Foundation is the only not-forprofit organization that puts forth such effort, for the sole purpose of expanding its charitable reward and helping our most precious resource: the children of our community. Throughout the year we depend on local support to accomplish our goal. Through sponsorships from individuals, businesses, and large corporations, the Emerald Coast Foundation is able to bring together many levels of support, and that’s where you can help. By supporting ECF, you can directly help the youth organizations in Northwest Florida provide much needed services. Since 1970 the All Sports Association has brought together the finest athletes in Northwest Florida. Their annual Awards Banquet honors the area’s top High School, Collegiate, Amateur, Professional, Special Olympic athletes and individuals who have fostered youth activities. The All Sports Association’s helps fund numerous charitable causes in Okaloosa and Walton County. WWW.ALLSPORTSASSOCIATION.ORG Children in Crisis, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization of caring people working together to provide homes and keep brothers and sisters together. We give a home to the abused, neglected, and abandoned children of our community. Before CIC, there was no emergency shelter in Circuit 1 for young children removed from an unsafe environment on short notice. Our children live in a safe, and nurturing home in a local neighborhood environment. Since 2008, we have provided a home to over 650 children while keeping sibling groups together. WWW.CHILDRENINCRISISFL.ORG The Eleanor Johnson Youth Center is a 501©(3) non-profit organization that provides daily support to over 150 children in our summer and afterschool program. We provide constant Educational and Recreational programs for at-risk youth living in public housing. Our mission is to teach all youth the proper fundamentals needed to be successful, while instilling the positive values of work ethic, self-esteem, and confidence. Studies have shown that children who participate in positive programs are more likely to succeed as adults and are more likely to have a positive impact in their community. We hope to give our children this advantage in life. WWW.EJYC.ORG The Arc of the Emerald Coast was founded in 1992 and formerly known as Horizons of Okaloosa County. The Arc of the Emerald Coast provides services in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties that work to include all children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities in every community. We also focus on abilities, respect, choice for all and encourage active citizenship and inclusion in every community. Services include Early Intervention Children’s Center. Stu Jones — FPC Founder & President Contact: [email protected] Stu Jones has always had an interest in motorsports, powerboating and speed. He founded Florida Powerboat Club in 1993 to create an organization for people to do what they love. Letter from Stu…... Dear Members, Sponsors & Power boaters, I want to begin by thanking all of our supporters over the last several years, for helping to keep the dream alive. The Florida Powerboat Club is so unique and so specialized in the services that we provide, that we could never have survived all these years without the repeated membership renewals, and continuing participation on our FPC poker run events. But the last couple of years have been tough for many of us, and we continue to do all that we can to meet the challenges and adapt our business model in a way that keeps us alive as a viable business entity. Sure we love what we do, and yes we are certainly proud of what we have accomplished as a membership driven organization. That said, if there was one message that I could continue to share with our members…it’s that FPC will barely survive the next decade, by operating poker run events alone as the main focus of our business. We have a highly skilled staff, a building over our heads, and plenty of equipment to provide a multitude of services for our members. From producing photo enlargements and custom framing, to photo and videography services, and even making travel arrangements & reservations at major resorts throughout Florida and the Bahamas, the FPC staff is here to serve you, with professionalism and with the respect that you deserve. After all, you’re a member of the Florida Powerboat Club! So please read below, find out what we can do for you…to help make your life just a little more enjoyable! Thank you, Stu Jones – Florida Powerboat Club President WWW.FLPOWERBOAT.COM 23550.indd 16 8/12/16 8:44 AM 23550.indd 17 8/12/16 8:44 AM Poker Run 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. The objective of the Poker Run is to get the BEST five card poker hand. Present your stops voucher at Poker Run Party to a dealer on August 20, 2016 starting at 6pm to receive cards. No additional purchase is necessary. Poker runners will give their voucher to the dealer and receive one card for each stop, up to seven cards. If they went to stops eight and/or nine they receive one raffle ticket for each extra stop over seven. One raffle ticket will be drawn for the final round table. After being dealt 5 cards from the top of the deck the dealer will spread face down remaining deck for the player to choose the next 2 cards for each stop that a stop card was received (max 7 cards), they may buy up to 4 additional cards and draw from remaining cards. First card costs $5, second card costs $10, third card costs $15, and fourth card costs $20, for a total of $50, if they buy all four extra cards. At that point they make their best 5 card poker hand or low hand from their cards (max 11 cards). High hand voucher will be attached to the hand and given to a runner. Low hand will go in a raffle to the final round. At this point, hand is over and if there is not a payable hand and the poker runner does not want to buy an additional hand, the voucher is taken, so it cannot be played again. Poker runners may buy extra hands for $25 each and play the voucher all over again. Once they leave the table they may not come back and buy additional hands unless they have a new voucher. Low hand is A,2,3,4,6 mixed suits. Two low hands will be drawn for final table. There will be no ties. In the event of a tie for the fourth highest hand, a winner will be chosen by the person who pulls the highest card out of a deck (suits do not apply). The winner will then move on to the final round. Final round will be played 5 Card Straight Up until 6 players are remaining, the game will then move to 5 Card Draw; players will be able to discard maximum of 3 cards. Play begins with each player being dealt five cards, one at a time, all face down. Then the draw phase begins. Each player specifies how many of his cards he wishes to replace, and discards that many from his poker hand. Each player in turn is dealt the same number of cards he discarded, so that each player again has five cards. Each player discards the cards he wishes to replace before he takes any replacements, and that he takes the same number of replacements as he discarded. At this point the hand is revealed and low hand is eliminated. Repeat this until only two players are left. FINAL TABLE Ten players sit at the final table(s). At some point the MC will announce that players can sell their seat to any interested bidders for an 80/20 split between seller and ECF. A “blackjack” is the highest hand, consisting of an ace and any 10point card. The dealer will give two cards to each player and two cards to himself. One of the dealer cards is dealt face up, one face down (the hole card). The following are the choices available to the player: STAND—Player stands pat with his cards HIT—Player draws another card/s DOUBLE—Player doubles his bet and gets one, and only one more card SPLIT—If the Player has a pair, or any two 10-point cards, he may double his bet and separate his cards into two individual hands.
