BACKPACK NOTICE – May 27, 2011
Dear TCCS Family,
What a success today’s Hispanic Diversity Program, “Ven Bailalo” was! Many thanks to all who attended, cooked, and
supported our students, as they impressed us all with their entertaining performance. We commend Sra. Torres for organizing
this great event! Please take note of the following important reminders:
Announcements/Reminders

School will be closed on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. This is a day that was given back since we did not use all of our snow
days this year.
•
Board Election Notice: Please note that the time for the Meet the Candidates Open Forum has been changed from 7:00pm
to 6:00pm on Wednesday, June 15. Please read the attached position papers from our candidates, Mr. Edward Pierce, Mr.
Yoel Piney, and Dr. Kate Zatz.. The election will be on June 20.

Many students still did not pay for lunch on Field Day. Please send in the $4 in an envelope with your child’s name and
homeroom to Ms. Yvonne as soon as possible. Students who don’t buy lunch will be responsible to brown bag their own
lunch.

On June 11th the TCCS staff will be playing in the 3rd annual Iron Matt Softball Tournament to benefit pediatric brain
tumor research. The entrance fee is $750 so we need your help! Donations can be made to IronMatt and given to Mr D in
the main office. Thanks for your support!

The 2010-2011 TCCS Yearbook is currently on sale. Please use the attached form to order yours today!

Noelani Renderos is a Top Ten Winner in the Celebrating Art.com Nationwide Art Contest. She won a $50 US Savings

SCHOOL BUS SERVICE CANCELED
Effective SEPTEMBER 2011, the Teaneck Public School system has ELIMINATED courtesy busing for
students in Grades 1-4. The Teaneck Public School system is considering a subscription busing program to
offer transportation to students in Grades 1-4 for a fee. TCCS parent/guardian in Grades K-4 may have
received a letter from Teaneck Public Schools with a survey to determine interest.

Teaneck Community Charter School Parents/Guardians
Charter School busing survey for grades K-8
As most of you are aware, courtesy busing for students in grades 1-4 is eliminated in the Teaneck Public
School district, effective September. As mandated by the state, busing will only be provided to Kindergarten
and students in grades 1-4 that reside more than 2.0 miles from the school.
Teaneck Board of Education has approved a program called “Subscription Busing” which allows the district to
offer transportation to students in grades 1-4 for a fee. The Teaneck Board is looking to provide this program in
September. Several parents in the TCCS Lower school have received a letter/survey from the Teaneck Board of
Education asking them to submit a “Subscription Busing Survey” by June 1st. If you received this survey and
are interested, please fill it out and send it back to Teaneck Public Schools, as instructed on the form.
Concurrently, we are investigating an opportunity to establish an independently- operated subscription busing
program for the TCCS community – serving grades K-8!
We need your help!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The end of the year is quickly approaching. Our instrumental students have begun
preparing for the end of the year music recital to be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 7
pm.
All students who have participated in lessons for the full school year are expected to
perform. If any student is unable to perform, please directly contact the student’s
instructor, Ms. Curto or Mr. Burke, by Friday, June 3.
