Agora Collective’s Summer Program for Collaborative Artistic Practices
the program
the objective
Affect refers, to the influence, a change has
on something else. It is not from today that
artists are influenced and inspired by the
relationships and encounters experienced
throughout their lives. Interferences and
interactions between persons can create
special circumstances that are crucial for
artistic development and certainly affect the
way one relates to production.
is to challenge artists in an active process of work to
develop their projects in a collaborative context potentially putting this work to a new level of
presentation. Focused on artistic development, this
program is conceived for young professionals who
wish to bring new inputs for a specific project/
question/research - within a model built for
exchanging knowledge.
AFFECT is a program designed by Agora
Collective based on collaborative practices Agora’s artists open for this summer 2012
their art space for 7 international artists - from
all field of arts - who aim to challenge and
incorporate new layers to their own projects.
The program proposes a skill-sharing format in which
Agora Collective intends, as a catalyser, to cause/
propose/create a review of perspective mainly
through discussions, exercises, reading sessions,
workshops and living collectively.
For Agora Collective the program shows itself as a
potential opportunity to formalize daily situations
experienced in the space. Agora Collective, acting
since one year in Berlin, opens its space and its
experience for a new group of artists.
Agora Collective’s Summer Program for Collaborative Artistic Practices
the format
is structured with a group of seven artists, selected
through an application process. Each artist arrives to
the work frame with an own project in development
and are placed to work together during a time frame
of 4 weeks in Agora’s top floor studio.
Throughout the weeks, Agora Collective members
will provoke smalls interventions to the group related
to their domain of research, in order to build bridges,
generate inputs and propose working tasks to the
participants and their projects. conceived to work as a self-organized program,
Agora Collective members act in AFFECT as
facilitators that intend to immerse the residents in their
own and on each others works, inspiring and
nourishing each other’s processes. It is important to
mention that collaboration will not be a demand,
what we propose is to review one’s project and
question how it could relate and maybe gain from
others interactions. Collaboration is not a must, but
encouraged.

AGORA ART COLLECTIVE
Agora Collective is the art collective of
Agora. A small group of artists and thinkers
coming from many disciplines and
backgrounds and while it retains a small,
core group from project to project Agora
Collective is also constantly inviting new
members to meet the challenges of a new
work.
With each new piece and new group
Agora Collective concerns with finding
territory
where
questions,
skills,
experiences, and range of interests can
find common ground, an entity of work.
The process is based
on constantly
putting free-form thoughts into action and
then building from and reworking the
unexpected results. While this manner of
working can be at times circuitous, the
experience of collaboration thus remains
as exciting to us as the moment the final
work is released.
