WELCOME TO THE CARLISLE GM NATIONALS
From the Owners
From the EVENT MANAGER
Welcome to the 2016 GM Nationals, thanks for
joining us! I’m excited to be back for my fourth
year as the event manager of this show. One of
the biggest things you probably noticed about the
show this year was its brand new weekend which
now overlaps Father’s Day. So, before we go any
further, happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
TYLER STALEY
It is truly amazing how many people have become
involved with cars because of a father-son or father-daughter bond over
wrenching. I earned my passion for cars from my dad who is, ironically,
a big Ford fanatic. But, regardless of our favorite manufacturer, all of us
enthusiasts share a common bond – we love cars! Many of us have our
fathers to thank for turning us into gearheads so take a minute to thank
your dad for starting your passion and be sure to introduce your kids to
this awesome hobby.
This year’s event is offering a special nod towards fans of the
Oldsmobile. In particular, two Olds-focused displays are being featured
in Building T: 50 Years of the Toronado and a showcase dedicated to the
iconic Hurst/Olds.
Complimenting the Hurst/Olds display and Toronado display, special
guests Don Glover (an original Hurst team engineer) and David North
(the original designer of the Toronado) will be here to meet enthusiasts. Mr. North will also be offering seminars about the design of the
Toronado.
Combine the special displays and guests along with UMI’s autocross
activities, SLP’s burnout contest and over 1,000 show cars and you get
one awesome weekend for the entire family. Even more special is our
first-ever Dads and Doughnuts celebration on Sunday, which is a way
of thanking all dads for coming to the show. Kids are eligible for FREE
monster truck rides, and dads who register a show car can grab a coffee,
a doughnut and a family picture to remember the event. So, to all the
enthusiasts out there, thanks for coming and have a great weekend!
LANCE MILLER, BILL MILLER, JR.,

In 1967, Hurst Performance
experimented with the
newly-redesigned Olds
4-4-2. They used the frontwheel-drive setup from the
Toronado and placed it in
1968 Fouranado
a 4-4-2. It was dubbed the
Fred Mandrick
“Fouranado,” a name that
reflected a car that was 4-4-2-equipped with the heart
of a Toronado. Hurst used the 455 C.I., W-34 package
engine offered in the Toronado as the power plant.
The entire project involved a lot of custom work,
such as sectioning the fenders, flattening the floor
(since no driveshaft was needed) and blending the
frames of both cars. The end result is this one-ofa-kind, experimental vehicle hand-built by Hurst
Performance.

guest SPOTLIGHT: brandyn & ally
Finding Love
at Carlisle
By Sarah Burkarth, Carlisle Events Social Media Coordinator
At the Carlisle GM Nationals in 2013, two young Grand Prix
owners noticed they were parked beside each other on the
showfield. Brandyn and Ally had actually been showing their
cars alongside each other for many years, but had never
introduced themselves before this particular June event in
Carlisle, PA. “We knew from the start that we were meant for
each other,” said Ally. The duo are die-hard Pontiac fans and
have owned their Grand Prix’s for eight years.
At the 2015 GM Nationals, Brandyn was invited to accept
an award in front of the grandstand and a crowd full of people.
Ally was by his side to show support, but she had no idea what
was about to happen would change their lives forever. With
microphone in hand, Brandyn began to give an acceptance
speech for his award and then proceeded to say “and there’s
only one way to make this weekend better.” “He then he got
down on one knee and proposed to me. I, of course, said yes!”
exclaimed Ally. The crowd erupted into cheer, with both show
patrons and Carlisle Events staff excited to witness such a
beautiful moment.
“We knew exactly where we were having the wedding,
hands down no question about it,” said Ally. The 2016 GM
Nationals will host the wedding of Brandyn and Ally on Sunday,
June 19. The Pontiac-themed reception will be held inside a
building on grounds. “Carlisle GM Nationals means the world
to us and holds a special place in our hearts.”

K & R: Your One-Stop-Shop
for Restoration Parts
By Sarah Burkarth, Carlisle Events Social Media Coordinator
Keith’s fourth time at the Carlisle
Fairgrounds and his second GM
show. Keith says he is all about
customer service, quality parts
and competitive pricing for the
buyers at Carlisle. He feels that he
“owes it to the spectators and his
business to be at the top of his
game at all times.”
K & R is best known for their
1967-1981 Camaro parts but
they also now have an inventory
of ’47-’53 and ’67-’72 Chevrolet
truck parts. The company carries
a large inventory of sheet metal;
like fenders, hoods, quarter panels
and floor pans. This is also the
place to look if you are searching
for weather stripping, bumpers,
grilles, emblems, gauges,
K & R Classic Auto Parts is
the one-stop shop for all your
restoration needs. The 17-yearold company is headquartered in
Danville, Virginia and specializes
in Camaro and Chevelle
restoration parts. It is a small
business of only two people, but
K & R takes up a large footprint at
Carlisle and has been setting up
here for over 15 years.
As a guest at the Carlisle GM
Nationals you have surely seen
K & R Classic Auto Parts on
grounds, as well as at Spring/
Fall Carlisle, for many years.
Fairly new to Carlisle, however,
is Keith Jones who took over
ownership of K & R last April.
The 2016 GM Nationals will be
interiors, or wiring harnesses.
As mentioned before, truly the
“one-stop shop” for restoration
needs.
Aside from traveling to
Pennsylvania three times a year
for Carlisle shows, K & R vends at
events in Ohio, North and South
Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and
Georgia. So far in 2016, Spring
Carlisle has been their best show
by a long shot, significantly
increasing sales totals. Keith
hopes that the GM Nationals will
follow in the same footsteps.
Since 1999 K & R Classic Auto
Parts has been helping people
rebuild their dream cars so stop
by and see what they can do for
you!

and like you, we’ve spent a lifetime
insuring and enjoying classics,
race cars and customs because
collecting and participating in the
hobby is our passion.

PREFERRED AUTO PARTS STORE
RockAuto ships thousands
of auto parts from over 300
manufacturers to customers on
every continent except Antarctica
— including APO/FPO addresses.
The RockAuto catalog is updated
daily with mechanical parts
such as brake pads and shock
absorbers, body parts such as
bumpers and mirrors, interior
trim such as door handles and
carpets, and major assemblies
like steering gears, CV axles,
engine long blocks, and complete
transmissions. There are no
mechanics on staff (RockAuto
is a store, not a repair shop) but
service manuals are available
to help customers learn how to
perform a repair. The RockAuto
catalog is expanding constantly.
Someday, it may be possible to
build an entire car using parts
from RockAuto!
