Some companies have a history that stays firmly in the past. We’re fortunate to have a legacy that permeates our present like a classic song,
not with nostalgia, but as the reminder of a timeless foundation and
simple beginnings.
On 14 June 1971 the first Hard Rock Cafe opened at the Old Park Lane in
London, on the premises of a former Rolls-Royce representative.
The two American founders, Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton missed
good American food, the atmosphere of warm American service and
were passionate about music.
Regular visitors to the Hard Rock Cafe included stars like Eric Clapton,
who secured his favorite place to sit by having his guitar hung up on the
wall. A few weeks later, another regular visitor Pete Townshend (The
Who), sent his guitar to the cafe to also be hung up.
Today there are not only Hard Rock Cafes, but also hotels, bar, casinos,
an event hall and an exhibition of exhibits that are not in cafes.
When you consider we have over 170 locations, which include
restaurants, hotels, casinos, and live music venues, in 54 countries,
it’s hard to believe that it all started so innocently: the search for
a good burger.

In a city that has hosted the early gigs of Liverpool’s original “Fab
Four” Hamburg once again claims rock residency with Hard Rock
Cafe Hamburg that opened in summer 2011. Centrally located right
on the docks of the Elbe River, in one of the city’s most historic buildings (the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken). The Hard Rock Cafe Hamburg is
conveniently nestled on the port near to many local landmarks such
as the Old Elbe Tunnel, the Old Warehouse District and the Harbor
City, making it a must-see desitination for visitors and locals alike.
The three-level, 900-square-meter cafe includes seating for 365, a vibrant bar, outdoor seating complete with rooftop terrace, live music
area, VIP lounge and Rock Shop, featuring Hard Rock’s limited-edition
merchandise. Memorabilia from Hard Rock’s iconic collection adorns
the walls of Hard Rock Cafe Hamburg, including items from many
of the world’s most beloved and recognizable musicians, as well
as contemporary artists with local ties. Key memorabilia items are
now on display, from handwritten letters penned by The Beatles and
suede/wool Afghan jacket worn by Jimi Hendrix in Woodstock, to a
“Punisher” bass guitar used by Gene Simmons of KISS.

Auch wenn der Titel des Stücks
in eine andere Richtung weist:
„Ein schöner Tag zum Sterben“ handelt vom Leben. Erzählt von Lebensmut und Lebenswut zweier Frauen. Mutter
und Tochter treffen in der feinfühligen Inszenierung aufeinander – und sie gehen sich gehörig
auf die Nerven. Die Ex-Punkerin,
die ihr Kind in Pflege gab um auf
Partys unterwegs zu sein, und
sich heute in ihrer verwahrlosten Bude mit Bier, Zigaretten
und Telefonsex über Wasser
hält, fürchtet die Vorwürfe einer
Tochter (Kristina Bremer), die
von einem Familienleben
träumt, das sie nie hatte.
Regisseurin Marianne Hauttmann gelingt ein tiefer Blick auf
die Tragik familiärer Bande –
und vor allem Hanka Schmidt
gibt in der Rolle der rebellischen
Mutter eine beklemmend gute
Schilderung ihres Lebens(un)glücks.
