Daniel Technology, Inc. 26 Pearl St. Suite 202 Norwalk, CT 06850 (888) 412-7879 Phone (203) 847-2820 FAX Daniel Technology MZ-DRM OBJECTIVE - To make a miniature MiniDisc audio recorder optimally effective for law enforcement use. The remote control supplied by its original manufacturer does not operate the record function and has been replaced with one which provides the record and stop functions only. The MZ-DRM remote jack is modified so that it will provide record/stop, but does not malfunction with the original control. A choice of switch styles and cable lengths are offered (3½ foot cable length is standard). The NLS-2/MZ90 slide switch or LS-1/MZ90 latching switch are available as well as various electronic control devices. The original remote control "Playback" function is preserved to allow the use of the Daniel Technology automated duplicating system. "Select-Lock" is standard and allows the user to control the recorder's keyboard "Hold" function. It is also operationally consistent with other model recorders used in law enforcement. "Auto-Lock" is available on special request. EM-8/NT microphones with beige housing and cable are offered to provide best concealment, minimum clothing noise, and highest voice intelligibility. Other microphones are available on request. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS - The modified recorder with NLS-2/MZ90 shall be known as Daniel Technology MZ-DRM. Except as noted all supplies and accessories furnished by the original manufacturer with the standard recorder are included. Any modification to the recorder itself shall be completely reversible to allow for warranty service by a Factory Service Center. 1) The recorder shall be modified so as to accept a simplified remote control device (wired or wireless) having record and stop functions only. The original manufacturer’s remote control shall not be able to cause any false operation or malfunction of the recorder. 2) The keyboard on the recorder shall remain functional with or without the remote control connected. A HOLD switch on the recorder shall lock the keyboard only and not effect remote control. 3) The remote control shall not increase power consumption measurably in record nor by more than 3 micro-Amps in stop, after initial stabilization. Remote control operation with a fully charged NI-MH battery shall have sufficient battery life to run a full 80 minute disc after 30 days of standby. 4) The remote control cable may be any length specified by the customer (3½ foot length is standard).
