RE-ENROLLMENT PACKETS COMING SOON
The envelopes will be stuffed, sealed, and on their way to your mail boxes next week.
FEBRUARY 8, we begin signing you up for the 2016-2017 school year! If you have
questions regarding information in your re-enrollment packet, don’t hesitate to call
the elementary office. We know choosing a Christian education involves sacrifice,
and we appreciate your commitment to BCS. We anticipate most classes being full

child a place at BCS. The upcoming school year will be an exciting one and we
hope your children will be with us to experience it.
Lunch Ordering will be opening this weekend for February lunches and will be open
all next week. Please watch for your

January 2016
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful
beginning to 2016. To start the New Year and semester
off right, make sure your family begins each day with
breakfast. Breakfast is extremely important in school
aged children. Just like a car needs gas to go, your child
,
needs breakfast so they have the proper fuel to start their

day. Surprisingly, many children don’t start their day
and gra
with breakfast.
Children that eat breakfast have higher school attendance, less tardiness,
and fewer hunger-induced stomach aches in the morning. Children that eat
breakfast have higher test scores, better concentration, solve
problems more easily, and have better muscle coordination. In
addition, those that eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight.
The most important things to remember when making

example! Be sure to include carbohydrates, protein, and

healthy fat. Carbohydrates provide immediate energy to the body
while protein kicks in after the first fuel source is used.
Examples of breakfast foods:



Carbohydrates—Grains (breads, cereals, granola, tortillas, rice),
starchy vegetables, (beans, potatoes), milk products (milks, cottage
cheese, yogurts), and fruits (apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries)
Lower carbohydrate containing foods—non-starchy
vegetables (tomato, spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms)
Proteins—meats, cheese, peanut butter, and eggs
Mix and match from whole grains, low fat dairy, lean
proteins, vegetables and fruits. Remember, if your child
sees you taking the time to eat a healthy breakfast, they will
likely follow your footsteps! Try one of these three simple
breakfast foods this month!
