VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY, launched by Sanderson for Spring 2014 pays homage to our pioneering
ancestors whose love of travel and the documentation of their first discoveries have such a strong influence
on many aspects of our everyday lives. From the natural historians of the 17th century who beautifully
illustrated their scientific discoveries, to the leisure traveller of the later Victorian era who collected memoirs
of their journeys, these images still excite us today and evoke a sense of adventure and freedom.
This particular voyage leads us through the Caribbean and South America;
an exploration of the exotic, juicy colours found naturally in the flora and
fauna of the southern hemisphere. From ocean beds, to cheeky capuchin
monkeys, luscious ferns and exquisite botanical etchings, the studio have
captured the essence of these beautifully painted illustrations.
The collection comprises eight prints and two printed embroideries,
complemented by seven non-woven wallpapers. All prints and wallpapers
are made in the UK at Sanderson’s sister companies in Lancaster and
Loughborough.
The Sanderson studio also launches two contrasting and complementary
weave collections.
From cosy country retreats to the contemporary suiting of Savile Row,
BYRON WOOLS offers a soft to the touch wool quality in a range of plaids,
checks and pinstripes. These design classics are schemed into seven
elegant colour palettes.
PYRAMUS & THISBE is a classic damask collection of versatile and
durable weave qualities.

PICTURE GALLERY Botanically drawn elements taken from the Capuchins fabric
are presented as framed souvenirs in this striking wallcovering. The realistic quality
of the specimens is achieved by using an almost photographic print process.
These are then set against richly coloured backgrounds ranging from mustard,
through teal, to red. This wide width paper is available in five colours.
CLEMENTINE This undulating exotic trail complements the fabric of the same
name. This wide width paper is available in four colours, from dusky pinks to delft
blues.
MANILA This stylised version of the Manila fabric has a very contemporary feel. It is
available in seven colours and is wide width. The colours range from cool graphite
and silver, to a vibrant, Brazilian turquoise.
COCOS This wallpaper complements the Cocos fabric. It is standard width and
available in five colours.
CHRISTABEL is a versatile floral trail in the style for which Sanderson is renowned.
The wallpaper is a slightly smaller scale than the Christabel fabric and is available
in seven colours.
CORAL REEF This beautiful coral wallpaper is available in six colourways, including
some printed on mica grounds giving it an iridescent feel.
GALAPAGOS This antique map design complements the Galapagos print design.
It is available in five colourways, ranging from parchment, through pewter, to azure.

CAPUCHINS shows beautifully detailed etchings of monkeys, fruit, tropical flowers
and foliage. It is a fine example of the botanical studies that recorded newly
discovered specimens. It is digitally printed to capture all the nuances of tone work
and is available in four colourways on linen/viscose.
CLEMENTINE this beautifully painted tropical trail evokes the feeling of Amazonian
jungles, with humming birds and exotic flora. This fantastical version of a tree of life
is available in four colourways and is printed on linen/viscose.
MANILA is a luscious jungle design, with over-layering of glistening tropical leaves.
It is printed on linen union in four rich colourways.
GALAPAGOS depicts a vintage map of Darwin’s famous archipelago, with the
contours of the Pacific Ocean adding movement in the background. This is
however no ordinary map; upon closer inspection, it comes to life with whimsical
paintings of the islands’ wildlife and marine life. It is printed on linen union in three
colourways, ranging from antique parchment to a soft ocean blue.
CORAL REEF is a study of delicate coral found on the sea bed. The design has a

Typically British in style, these six designs range from larger scale plaids to smaller
checks, a pinstripe, a herringbone and a re-interpretation of a Sanderson classic,
Squirrel & Dove. Styled in seven delicious colour palettes from soft neutrals and
aqua, through classic mulberry, sages and indigo, to contemporary charcoal, they
can be combined together to create stylishly comfortable living spaces and are a
perfect partner for classic prints. All designs are woven in lambswool and have an
extremely soft finish, making them ideal for upholstery, throws or curtains.
SQUIRREL & DOVE C.F.A. Voysey, the famous English architect and textile
designer created SQUIRREL & DOVE in the Arts & Crafts style of the time. The
pattern was first produced by Sanderson as wallpaper in the 1890s and is
currently in the range as a printed embroidery. This monochromatic interpretation
in wool looks fabulous on upholstery, as curtains or as throws. It is available in
three colourways.
MILTON A stitch effect runs through this otherwise traditional plaid design which
uses the same colours in the warp and weft, creating a square pattern. This eightover tartan check is available in seven colourways.
BYRON This style of plaid is known as a Madras Check and creates a
contemporary and less formal look than traditional tartans. BYRON is the largest
check in the collection and is available in six colourways.
PORTLAND is a versatile herringbone design available in seven colourways
three dimensional feel as it is first printed and then embroidered on a cotton and
linen cloth in two colourways.
TAILOR is a pinstripe reminiscent of the men’s tailoring of Savile Row. It is available
in six colourways.
CORAL & FISH Tropical fish weave in and out of the coral motifs adding flashes of
jewel-like colours to the CORAL REEF design. Coral & Fish combines print and
embroidery on a cotton and linen base and is available in two colours.
LANGTRY is a medium scale window pane check with a stitch effect running
through it to give a hand-crafted feel. It is available in seven colourways.
FLOREANNA This exotic floral print of intertwining Clematis blooms conjures up the
tropics through its vibrant colouration. It is available in four colourways on polished
cotton.
CHRISTABEL A camellia in full bloom on a gently undulating stem has been printed

classically soft pastel colourways and is printed on glazed cotton.
PYRAMUS is a classic design that was inspired by an 18th century print document
from Sanderson’s extensive archive. It is woven in 100% cotton, suitable for heavy
domestic upholstery and available in 11 classic colours.
COCOS The elements featured in the Cocos design could all have been found
