INTRODUCTION
About us
Morfus¨ is a new sustainable concept in robust, modular and
adaptive furniture. A patented interlocking modular system allows you
to assemble, reconfigure and reassemble your furniture to suit your
changing needs. Morfus expresses the natural visual qualities of the
melamine faced birch plywood panels from which it is engineered.
Morfus aims to continuously redefine the rules of the furniture industry
with this contemporary product range based on intelligent solutions
that breathe new identity and functionality into modern living and
working spaces.
The principles behind the brand are simply,
SMART furniture means:
Sustainable. Made from FSC managed northern European
Birch all the CO2 in the plywood manufacture, its transport to
the UK and making in the factory is carefully calculated. Trees
are then planted under the UK Woodland Carbon Code to
sequester an equal amount of CO2.
Modular. Engineered to provide almost limitless possibilities
to configure it exactly the way you need it. Morfus can be linked
vertically and horizontally to create the perfect combination to
meet you interior storage and display requirements.
Adaptable. With door, drawer, and pull-out box module
options to match your colour scheme, and endlessly
reconfigurable to meet you changing needs, morfus adapts
with you. It is the system designed for life.
Robust. Engineered from high quality birch plywood with
a factory applied melamine finish, Morfus is designed to be
tough and resilient. If a component does get damaged then it
can easily be replaced.
Timeless. Designed to show the expressive, natural and tactile
qualities of birch plywood, and using the interlocking assembly
system to give further character, the white Morfus shapes and
surfaces create the perfect complement to any space any time.

SMART FURNITURE
Morfus¨ is available initially in two ranges.
The Bookcase range is 300mm deep and is
designed as a 600mm module horizontally
and a 345mm module vertically. Modules can
be assembled in virtually any combination
and can even be stepped. Doors, shelves
and pull-out boxes compliment the
Bookcase range. Doors and boxes come in
a standard range of contemporary colours
or if you prefer we can match your specific
colour needs.
The Sideboard range is 450mm deep
and is designed as a 600mm module
horizontally and a 345mm module vertically.
The Sideboard modules have the same
assembly and colour possibilities as the
Bookcase range. Doors, shelves and
drawers compliment the Bookcase range.
For the purposes of demonstrating a few of
the many possibilities of the morfus system,

Modules and Accessories
Morfus¨ modules and accessories are
available to order separately if you require a
completely bespoke Bookcase or Sideboard
solution. The doors are compatible with both
the Bookcase and Sideboard systems. Pullout boxes work exclusively with the Bookcase
system and drawers work exclusively with the
Sideboard system. The Colours of the Morfus
brand have been carefully selected as natural
colours to match the character of the product
in fashionable modern shades to suit any
style. The colour references refer to the Dulux
colour system.

All furniture is designed to be either placed
against a wall, mounted on legs or free
standing as a space divider to be seen from
any direction. In fact Morfus furniture has no
back just two fronts.

Morfus¨ Material Specification
Morfus¨ components are fabricated from 18mm melamine faced birch plywood.
Plywood
The Plywood used for the
Morfus¨ product is an engineered birch product sourced
from legally harvested timber
from sustainably managed
forests. The mechanical characteristics of birch plywood have
made it a well-known product in
industries demanding mechanical resistance, stability and light
weight. Birch plywood provides an
excellent weight to strength ratio.
Glued with waterproof phenol-formaldehyde resins that meet the
CARB Phase 2 and Japanese
4-Star Regulation’s requirements.
The weather and boiling water
resistant properties of the plywood bonding meet the requirements of the following standards:
EN 314 / 3rd class;
BS 1203 / H 4 (previously WBP)
DIN 68705 Part 3 / type BFU 100
The plywood is composed of
sanded and cross bonded 1.4 mm
thick birch veneers.
Melamine
Lacquer
Melamine is an organic compound which is fire resistant, heat
tolerant and has a highly stable
structure. It is commonly used for
whiteboards, floor tiles, kitchenware, fire retardant fabrics, and
commercial filters.
Drawer and box carcases are
fabricated from birch faced
plywood and finished with a 2
coat Acid Catalyst satin lacquer.
The factory bonded melamine
surface creates a hygienic, odour
free, weather and water-proof
surface that resists commonly
used chemicals and UV rays.
The surface is easy-to-clean with
water and steam.
In accordance with the standard EN
13986 the formaldehyde emission
meets the Class E1 requirements
(test method EN 717 Part 2).
Micro-bevel
A slight chamfer, angled cut or
micro-bevel is applied to the top
and side edges and of all finished
plywood components.
MDF
Colour coated doors, drawer
fronts and boxes are made from
18mm moisture resistant MDF
finished with an acid catalyst
paint comprising 2 primer coats
and 1 top coat.
Tolerances
Finished
melamine
and
birch faced plywood panels
are fabricated to exacting
tolerances using state of the art
CNC machines.
Edge Finish
The exposed plywood edges
of the Morfus¨ components
are sanded, coated with Liberon Black Bison Wax and subsequently buffed.
Black Bison Wax is ideal for nourishing and protecting all types
of wood and is well known for
its quality and distinctive, pleasant smell. It is traditionally used
on antiques but is also suitable for use on modern furniture
to enhance the natural beauty
of the wood whilst protecting it
against dryness.

Morfus¨ has been FIRA tested
and satisfied the requirements of
BS EN 10121:2013 - Level 1
