Direct car/passenger ferries connect Bari and Brindisi harbours with

Salento Bici Tour organizes week-long biking & culture trips in Salento.

The new resort Antica Masseria rises in the tranquility of the wonderful
natural environment of the murgese countryside.
The 18 suites are surrounded by an enchanting central garden with ancient olives tree and beautiful bushes of pomegranates and oleander.

The Masseria Marzalossa built in the seventeenth century, is part of the
historical houses of Apulia: For over two centuries belongs to the Guarini family who runs it directly.
This farm house has been restored with great care, is a unique place
to relax and unwind by ancient olive trees and old stone walls, in an
unspoilt nature.
The building is a typical example of rural architecture and fittings of
which this area is richly endowed. Marzalossa in past centuries was
the place to stay for long periods of religious and prelates of which are

The Masseria Montenapoleone provides an accommodation service (B&B
formula) with 15 rooms. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning,

The kitchen is dedicated exclusively to guests of the farm, and it serves
typical local cuisine and regional finely made with mainly organic products in the same Masseria.
Special mention deserves the precious olive oil produced in very limited quantities and with ancient methods, wine, vegetables, fruit jams,
pickles, sweets almond and fruit for breakfast to guests, cakes sweet
and savory, liquors of various essences and herbal infusions with that of
Mrs. Lucy have a detoxifying power.

Masseria Pizzofalcone is situated in the heart of Salento, in a position

Built in the 18th century by local farmers, the Monacelle trulli village has played
an important role in the area through the centuries. Originally a convent dated
1790, the old burg consists of a cluster of 28 cone-roofed “trullo” houses, an
extraordinary location where the Benedictine nuns used to perform their daily
rural routine. Recent restoration works have turned this historical place and
its surrounding areas into an elegant 4-star Estate, 20 acres of breathtaking
landscape. The owners were personally involved in the renovating process, focusing their attention on the history of the place and its original natural and architectural characteristics, in order to make Tenuta Monacelle an essential and
integrant part of the territory. Situated on a hill ridge, 400 metres above sea
level, Tenuta Monacelle is nowadays a peaceful, rural resort on the outskirts of
Selva di Fasano, with pines, gardens and orchards. It is the perfect location for
selected clients who love exclusive places and excellent food. In addition to the
traditional trulli burg, Tenuta Monacelle offers six superb tufa-stone “masseria”
villas. Each masseria has a number of modern bedrooms (41 in total) equipped

Monacelle holds “Il Ciliegeto”, the restaurant where refined and typical Apulian

Schäfer-Schuchardt lived for 30 Years in Italy with his family in charge
of the Max-Planck-Institutes, of the “Biblioteca Hertziana”, which is the
“Deutsches Kunshistorisches Institut” in Rome and of the “Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft” and researched about the “Apulische Figürliche Steinplastik des 11-13 Jhs”.
At the same time he dedicated his life also to the research of cavechurches and to the rocky settlements in canyons in Puglia. At last but
not the least he also investigated the cult of St. Nicholas and especially
those of the cultivation of olive oil.
As a result of his research folloewed scientific collaboration with C.O.I,
the International Olive Oil Council” in Madrid and the production of documentaries in collaboration with the “Bayerisches Fernsehen”and with
the “Hessisches Fernsehen”. Furthermore he became member in different olive oil panels for example “DER FEINSCHMECKER” , “BioPress”,
“BIOL” und “ERCOLE OLIVARIO”.
The “Società-Dante-Alighieri” of Würzburg wants to follow with this trip
to Puglia the guide lines of the “Società-Dante-Alighieri” in Rome that
is, the promotion of the italian culture in Germany and to join it in Italy.
