Leaf Clean Up will begin during the week of October 10th until the first week of
December, weather permitting. Leaf pick up will follow the street sweeper schedule.

Sweep your leaves in a pile at the curb for the sweeper to pickup. Remember
to be cautious about running vehicles nearby as this can pose a fire hazard.
Brush Grinder program runs in November following the street sweeper schedule. Trimmings and
limbs will be accepted and are to be placed at the curb for pick up. Logs must be no larger than 12 inches in
diameter. All brush material must be free and clear of roots and dirt as this is a safety hazard for our public
workmen.

Open Fires and Burning
E-Code—Bridgeville Borough Code is now online. See Official Borough
website www.bridgevilleboro.com click on E-Code bottom right corner of home page.
§503. Exceptions.
Subject to the following exceptions:
1. Open fires may be set in the performance of an official duty of any public officer if the fire is necessary for:
A. The prevention of a fire hazard which cannot be abated by other means; or
B. The protection of public health.
2. Open fires may be conducted solely for the purpose of noncommercial preparation of food for human
consumption, light, recreation, camping, or provision of warmth for outside workers.

3. Notwithstanding the foregoing exceptions in Subsection (2), the exceptions shall be further restricted as
follows:
A. Such burning shall contribute only a negligible amount of air contaminants and shall not create any
hazardous or other objectionable condition.
B. No burning shall be conducted on "ozone action" days as declared by Borough or Allegheny County
officials.
C. Only dry, clean wood products or other clean-burning fuels shall be burned; no building materials.
D. Only smokeless fuels, if any, shall be used to start a fire.
E. The material being burned shall be no larger than three (3) feet in diameter and shall be enclosed by a
stone or block ring.
F. No such burning is allowed within ten (10) feet of any street, sidewalk, structure, inhabited area, property
line, utility or overhanging structure.
G. All burning shall take place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
§ 401—Animal Noise a Nuisance [Ord. 848, 12/19/1996, §1 It shall be illegal within the Borough of Bridgeville for any
person or persons to own, possess or control any animal which makes any noise continuously and/or incessantly for a
period of 30 minutes or makes such noise intermittently for one hour or more to the disturbance of any person any time
of the day or night regardless of whether the animal is physically situated in or upon private property, said noise being
a nuisance; provided, that at the time the animal is making such noise no person is trespassing or threatening to
trespass upon private property in or upon which the animal is situated nor is there any other legitimate cause which
justifiably provoked the animal.
§ 402—Penalties: Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision hereof shall, upon conviction thereof,
be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 and in default of payment, to imprisonment for a term not to exceed
30 days.
§ 27-1001—Performance Standards
§ 27-1001.3—Noise
No operation or activity shall cause or create noise in excess of the sound levels prescribed below
A. Conservation and Residential Districts: At no point beyond the boundary of any lot within
the C, R-1 or R-2 Districts shall the exterior noise level resulting from any use or activity located on
such lot exceed a maximum of 60 dBA for more than four hours during any twenty-four-hour equivalent
period. (see full ordinance for Paragraphs C-D)
E. The following uses or activities shall be exempted from the noise regulations:
(1) Noises emanating from construction or maintenance activities between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.
(2) Noises caused by safety signals, warning devices and other emergency-related activities or
uses.
(3) Noises emanating from public or private recreational uses between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Residents in Allegheny County may qualify for a "free" Carbon
Monoxide Detector. The Allegheny Health Department manages a
"Lead Paint and Healthy Homes" program covering 11 counties in
Southwestern PA. Customers must be within 300% of the federal poverty level
participate in the program, which includes a free home inspection for lead
paint, carbon monoxide, radon and other hazards. Visit www.achd.net/lead/

News from the Bridgeville Athletic Association:
First Ron Schott Memorial Softball Tournament to be Held September 24, 2016 at Chartiers Park.
The tournament is part of an all-day memorial celebration and family picnic to honor Ron Schott, a
Bridgeville resident who passed away in 2014 from a heart attack. Net proceeds
will be used to support high school scholarships and purchase a defibrillator for
the fields. After Ron passed away, family members and friends wanted to create
a way to honor and celebrate someone who made a difference throughout the
community. With the softball tournament as the centerpiece, we hope to have an
event that will make a difference too.
Activities include food and drinks for sale, a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing, and
games such as corn hole and bocce. The softball tournament will begin at 8am and continue
throughout the day on the large field at Chartiers Park.
In April 2017, the committee will award the first Ron Schott Memorial Scholarships. These two scholarships will be awarded
to Chartiers Valley High School seniors, one for a lacrosse player and one for a swim team member who
will pursue further education at a trade school or university. Recipients will be chosen based on
academic record school and community activities, and an essay describing their passion for helping
others.

Join us for a discussion with author Kathleen Tessaro. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
Kathleen attended the University of Pittsburgh before entering the drama program of
Carnegie Mellon University. In the middle of her sophomore year, she went to study in
London for three months and stayed for the next twenty-three years. Kathleen's novels
include: Elegance, Innocence, The Flirt, The Debutante, The Perfume Collector, and most
recently, Rare Objects. She returned to Pittsburgh in 2009, where she now lives with her
husband and son.

The Clemente Museum is housed in historic Engine House 25 in Lawrenceville,
showcasing the world’s largest exhibited collection of baseball artifacts, works of art,
literature, photographs, memorabilia, and related materials which focus on Roberto

Holy Child Community Events:
Sunday, September 11, 2016—7:00 p.m. sharp! Holy Child Church, 212 Station
Street. The Holy Child Knights of Columbus supported by local Fire Departments and
Emergency Medical Teams, local and State Police, the US Military, American Legion,
VFW, the Boy Scouts of America and the Fourth Degree Color Corps from the Fr.
Denys Baron Assembly will hold their annual ceremony in remembrance of the attack
on our nation on September 11, 2001.
Sunday, October 9, 2016 in the Sunset Room at the
Fairview Fire Hall, 3326 Washington Pike, Bridgeville. The Holy Child Christian
Mothers and Guild will present the 54th Annual Fall Luncheon, Fashion Show
and Chinese Auction. Please make your reservations before September 22, 2016,
by calling Jean Romano at 412-221-3060. Ticket prices are $25.00 for adults, $15.00
for juniors (age 13 and over), and $12.00 for children. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. Hors
d'oeuvres will be offered, and we have a new lunch menu! We hope you will be part

November 5, 2016— Holy Child Knights of Columbus Council will have their Comedy Night
in The Chartiers Room at the Bridgeville Fire Hall. The doors will open at 6:00
PM. The cost is $30/person; $55/couple which includes entertainment, buffet dinner, beer
and mixers, Chinese auction, 50/50 and other activities.

The Bridgeville Area Food Bank is operated out of Bethany Presbyterian
Church. The food bank distributes groceries to needy families within the
Chartiers Valley and South Fayette School District communities. The Bridgeville
Area Food Bank distributes food on the third Saturday of every month from
9:30 AM until noon from Room 159.
A yearly Christmas toy drive is also conducted for Food Bank Recipient families.
The food bank accepts donations of non-perishable food items only. Food
items past the expiration date cannot be used. Food donations can be dropped
off at Bethany Presbyterian Church on the third Saturday of the month in the morning or during the
week Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the receptionist’s desk. The following list of
suggested food items are the most needed and distributed at the food bank. Tuna, peanut butter, jelly,
canned fruit, evaporated milk, pork & beans, mac & cheese, cereal, tea bags and jello.
Monetary donations are always welcome. Checks made payable to “The Bridgeville Area Food Bank”
mailed to (or dropped off at) the Bethany Church office 740 Washington Avenue, Bridgeville, PA
15017.
