Portfolio / art direction Texturae 2015- ongoing Since 2015 I’m the creative director of Texturae: a wallpaper company based in the south of Italy. During Milano Design Week 2016 we presented our first collection, designed both by the company itself, and a team of young designers and artists I personally selected: Antonio Aricò, Chiara Andreatti, Marta Lavinia Carboni, Martina Della Valle, Paolo Giacomazzi, Paolo Gonzato, Ilaria Innocenti, Karin Kellner, La Tigre, Josè Mendoza, Vito Nesta, Elena Salmistraro, Sovrappensiero Design Studio, Studio Fludd, Philippe Tabet, Alessandro Zambelli. I also defined the company strategy and designed its brand identity, web-site, catalogue and exhibition set. Portfolio / art direction Portfolio / art direction Portfolio / art direction Catalogue Portfolio / art direction Catalogue Portfolio / art direction Web-site Portfolio / art direction Fuorisalone 2016 exhibition set-up Portfolio / product Tan-tan Bitossi Home 2016 Tan-Tan is a tajine made of polished terracotta, designed by Serena Confalonieri and Elena Salmistraro for Bitossi Home. This project results from the need to explore the world of food that, nowadays, is the reflection of a multiethnic society, enriched with influences from the most different places and cultures. Tajines play a central role in all North-African kitchens: Tan-tan is a reinterpretation of this object defined by linear shapes, essential geometries and bright colours. Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Serena Collection Arzberg 2015 SPECIAL MENTION GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2016 The pattern created by the thin white line evokes the classic floral motifs of Art Nouveau style, while he defining solid line is reminescent of the Tiffany leaded-glass technique so typical of the period, where the contours and design of the stained glass were edged with thin metal strips. The colour palette likewise echoes shades that date back to the 1920’s. The presence of different colours on the inner surface of each plate increases the scope for creative mixing and matching, combining the patterns with the monochrome colours of the full Profi range. Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Cora & Lea .ex-novo 2015 One is immediately reminded of the genius of Peter Carl Faberge, and the goldsmith masterpieces made at the nineteenth century court of Alexander III, Tsar of all the Russias: in fact, we find all the delicate, hyper-refined elegance of the ancient art of Guilloché in the new line of hanging lamps designed for .exnovo by Serena Confalonieri. The new collection, which the Trento-based company is previewing at Maison et Objet, features two variants, Cora and Lea, different in the shape of their light diffusers - more compact and rounded in Lea, a more extended starburst form in Cora - united however by the same stylistic, feminine, soft and deliciously retro lines. In the collection - made entirely of sintered polyamide and available in variations of white - the innovative technology of professional 3D printing creates, just as in guillochés, delicate decorative textures, with an extremely refined and strong visual impact; the illuminating structure, ethereal while at the same time almost labyrinthine, filters the light and projects it onto the walls, decorating them with bright new and totally unexpected textures. Cora and Lea measure 80,2 cm H x 31,5 cm Ø and 73,2 cm H x 31,9 cm Ø and accept LED up to 11 W. Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Portfolio / product Ambrosiana Portfolio / product 2014 Ambrosiana is a collection created thanks to the collaboration of three designers emotionally bonded to the city of Milano: Cristina Celestino, Serena Confalonieri, Elena Salmistraro. Milano, the city known as the most important center for Italian design. Milano, the home of the companies that brought the Made in Italy label to worldwide fame. Milano, the reference point for architects and designers from numerous countries. Ambrosiana is a tribute to this city. The Ambrosiana projects rise from our intimate relationship with the city of Milano: we formed a shape from its mood using our own aeshtetic languages. Portfolio / product Cattedrale 2014 Five concentric containers create a vibrant visual effect made by the overlapping of five different decorative textures: they are inspired from the architectonical element of the Duomo facade, but they also remind us of the sense of intimacy and the shadows we can find in churches and confessionals interiors. Mention of honour Young&Design Award 2014 Portfolio / product Santissimi 2014 This is a small collection made by three trays built with iron and stained glass, the old tecnique used to create the big decorated windows in the cathedrals, presented here with a new contemporary taste: the materials are inspired by the windows of the Duomo di Milano but the graphic and the colours are clearly inspired by a modern architecture: San Francesco Church by Gio Ponti. Mention of honour Young&Design Award 2014 Portfolio / product Portfolio / textile Flamingo Nodus 2013 Flamingo is inspired by the tradition of Nordic painting of the fifteenth century: the theme of the floral still life is taken up and updated by a change of scale that makes it a macro design, a colour palette that alternates dark tones to extremely bright and saturated colours and a movement that takes the decorative element from the wall to the flooring, giving it the same importance. Flamingo is handtufted, 100% wool. Portfolio / textile Stella cc-tapis 2013 Stella is a wool, silk and aloe handknotted rug. The traditional diamond motif is reinterpreted, ending up as an experiment on cromatics palettes: a waterfall of colour swatches. Portfolio / textile photo: Adriano Brusaferri for Zanotta Portfolio / textile photo: Adriano Brusaferri for Zanotta Portfolio / textile Bayou cc-tapis 2014 Bayou is the Mississippi and New Orleans area ecosystem. This rug belongs to there, it’s a creole carpet, a halfcaste creature: it carries the rigorous and rational geometry from the New World and a decorative motif from the old Europe. These features reflect into themselves like in a big kaleidoscope. Portfolio / textile Portfolio / textile Floralia Carpet Edition 2011 A small collection of rugs that takes inspiration from acient botanical drawing and Gary Hume contemporary art and cromatic palette. They are handtufted and made of a 90% wool and a 10% cotton. These light and supple lines - a further which runs along the wall, enlivening it with a new delicate vividness. Created using 2D laser cutting, each Tarsine panel measures 25 x 24,5 cm. Adapts with great versatility to different rooms and interior spaces (including bathroom, thanks to a special waterproof treatment). /Tar-sì-ne/ Saint Mark’s Basilica and Santa maria della Salute Basilica, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and San Pantalon Church: some of the most illustrious Venetian monuments, further embellished by the presence of inlad Baroque flooring. Portfolio / surfaces Portfolio / surfaces Picos do Mundo Wall&decò 2013 Picos do Mundo is a wallpaper collection featuring a large size decoration. It’s a kind of photographic trompe l’oil , a journey’s story, a souvenir from an imaginary place that brings us into another natural reality characterized by light and heavenly tones: the landscapes are abstract and atemporal through the use of a cromatic gradient that makes them unreal. Portfolio / surfaces Portfolio / surfaces Cross room Wall&decò 2013 Cross room is a wallpaper with a classic pattern design, which is here more materical thanks to a large brush texture. Portfolio / surfaces Drift Wall&decò 2013 Drift collection takes inspiration from traditional Toile de Jouy from XVI century. Its design looks contemporary thanks to the use of a large scale and a new cromatic palette. Portfolio / surfaces Portfolio / surfaces Architects 2011 - ongoing Architects is a project that reflects over the link between architecture and graphic design, between tridimensional objects and bidimensional representation. Bidimensional pattern are created using architectural and design pictures, bringing objects and buildings to their original status of drawn sign.
