Summer in the
Mountains of Tirol
Ambassador for Summer
in the Mountains
On the bike
A total of 5,600 kms of marked trails await the most passionate
mountain bikers in Tirol. The Bike Trail Tirol forms the heart
of this, with just under 1,000 km and almost 27,000 metres in
elevation gain, it is the longest continuous mountain bike circuit
in the Alps and runs across the region in 32 stages.

3 | Elmar Huter from Wenns in the Pitztal Valley
Runs the child-friendly family farm Sennhof Huter with his wife
“I love being in the mountains. This is where I can take a step
back and breathe again. The diversity of the Alps never fails to
inspire me – around every corner a new landscape is discovered, from waterfalls, rock faces to mountain lakes. It’s all truly
fascinating and I love showing it to my guests.”
“One of the amazing highlights of my job is being able to be out
in the open air. I get around quite a lot, but if I can challenge the
Kitzbüheler Alps on my bike, that’s when my heart races! But for
me it’s the whole package that counts: the traditions, the Alpine
pastures, the cows, the herdsmen and the dairy maids, who are
always so open and friendly.”
4 | Benny Parth from Ischgl

2 | Gregor Schlierenzauer from the Stubai Valley
Olympic Gold medal winner in Ski Jumping
“My walks through the mountains not only provide the ideal
opportunity to unwind, but I often return to the valley with all
sorts of culinary treasures. It’s amazing how many wild herbs
you can find in our mountains, which for an award-winning
chef is invaluable.”
“For me summer in the Tirolean mountains is a time to relax
and re-energise. Above all, it’s getting out and about amidst
open and untouched nature.”
On the rock face
In the Climbers Paradise of Tirol, the rock-climbing opportunities are endless, with over 5,000 extreme routes, 3,000 medium
routes and 1,500 bouldering routes await climbing enthusiasts.
In addition Via Ferratas and high rope courses can be found
across the region. www.tyrol.com/climbing
In the water
Tirol’s fast flowing streams and rivers guarantee plenty of fun
and action – from white-water rafting against the current, to
kayaking downstream and canyoning down deep cliff faces.

With power
Whether it’s the Three Countries Giro Tour, the Arlberg Giro
Tour, Ötztaler Bike Marathon, Tannheimer Bike Marathon,
the Dolomites Cycle Race, Zillertal Bike Challenge, the Ischgl
Ironbike, Karwendel Hike, the Glacier Marathon or the Red
Bull Dolomitenmann – there are countless possibilities for
athletes, sportsmen and women to measure their strength and
test their ability to the limit. www.tyrol.com/events
In the mountains
Majestically the Eagle spreads its wings over Tirol and accompanies many leisure walkers and serious hikers on 33 stages
across the region. Tirol’s famous long-distance hiking trail
spans all parts of the region over a distance of 413 km, showcasing the impressive beauty, identity and character of the region.
www.tyrol.com/eagle-walk
On the bike
Tirol’s scenic diversity, its cultural variety and its culinary
delights are just some of the aspects that families and leisure
cyclists can enjoy whilst touring around by bike. The choice of
cycle routes is huge – journey from west to east on Tirol’s Inn
Cycle Trail, follow in the footsteps of the Romans along the Via
Claudia Augusta, or cycle from the Italian border all the way to
Slovenia on the Drau Cycle Trail. www.tyrol.com/bicycling
In the Nature
Many natural wonders are hidden in the mountains of Tirol.
The five Tirolean nature parks and the Hohe Tauern National
Park open up wild, untouched landscapes and show their unique
flora and fauna. www.tyrol.com/nature-parks
On a healthy note
Hay baths, herbal steam baths and Kneipp treatments invite you
to recharge your batteries. Combined with the purity of Tirol’s
air and water you have the perfect recipe for good health,
well-being and inner balance. www.tyrol.com/spas

In the festival spirit
Summer is the season of traditions: colourful folklore festivals,
magnificent Almabtriebe (bringing down the cattle from the
mountain pastures to the valley) and open-air concerts by more
than 300 bands invite you to celebrate. Here, you can experience
local traditions up close and personal. www.tyrol.com/events
For young and old
Across 10 Family Tirol Hotels and 14 Family Tirol villages
parents can finally enjoy their eagerly awaited holiday and the
children can’t wait to see what’s on the programme for tomorrow. Tirol is a holiday for the whole family.
www.tyrol.com/family-hotels
On the stage
Tirolean cultural life is filled with festivals, exhibitions, concerts, dance and theatre performances. This variety transforms
Tirol into a stage, full of cultural highlights. www.tyrol.com/events
For nature lovers
400 farms invite you to experience the rural lifestyle and to
observe first-hand the animals and nature. On 25 certified baby
and children’s farms, the young guests can even accompany the
farmer during his daily work routine. www.bauernhof.cc
On the plate
2,100 mountain huts provide signature Tirolean specialities on
the mountain, more than 130 inns carry the “Tiroler Wirtshaus”
seal of approval and 70 Tirolean restaurants have been awarded
toques in the current Gault Millau. Tirol is best experienced
using all your senses.
For explorers
With around 200 excursions on offer, from cultural to sport
attractions, and with 2,100 mountain huts over 12,000 square
metres, the diversity and density of recreational options on offer
in Tirol speaks for itself about the adventure that awaits.

In the mountains
Tirol is indeed the Land in the Mountains. Countless peaks –
including 573 higher than 3,000 m – are waiting to be conquered in Tirol. More than 700 highly-trained mountain guides
and almost 2,000 hiking guides ensure the necessary safety in
the mountains. www.tyrol.com/hiking
Even the powerful mountains of Tirol have a gentler side, where
Summer in the Mountains becomes a feast for the senses. The
hiker who follows the King of the Skies along the Eagle’s Walk,
which leads all through Tirol, already feels the spirit. Just like
the cyclists, who discover Tirol at their leisure on cycling trails
and explore the charming towns, quaint villages and wide
open fields. And those who are looking for a good game can tee
off from one of the top golf courses in Tirol. The Land in the
Mountains is all about exploring nature and discovering the
hidden treasures. Here there is time to catch your breath, realign
body and soul, rest and relax. Here you will find inspiration for
leisurely walks, that next bike ride, a round of golf, getting close
to nature and adopting a healthly lifestyle.
