The ICJA Aces are proud to be returning to Columbus
this year fresh off their 2014 CBI Jewish Word Series
Championship. Despite graduating two all-conference
players, the team returns the all-conference battery of
pitcher Avi Asher and catcher Seth Greenberg and two
new co-captains, Jeremy Sweer and Joshua Polster. Juniors and 3 year starters, Noah Jaffe in center field
and Roni Allswang at 3rd Base will be called upon to
play a larger role this season, and Sophomore pitchers
Yoni Asher and Ben Rosenblum will also see more time
on the bump. Five freshmen have also joined the team. This season the Aces Baseball team will be wearing
neon arm sleeves to honor their teammate Caleb
Maeir (who loves neon) and support him with his fight
against cancer and his road to recovery.

This is the 3rd year of Mizrachi’s baseball
program. The two players responsible for the
team’s creation, Max Goldstein and Aryeh
Sunshine, are now seniors and serve as the
team captains. We have played .500 baseball
over the past two years and our program
continues to growth in popularity throughout
both our school and our community. The CBI
tournament serves as our season highlight. We
look forward to competing against the top
Jewish schools in the nation and representing
our community in the process.

The Frisch Cougars are a young fiery squad
out of Paramus NJ, and not only are they the
reigning champs of the Yeshiva League, but
they are newcomers to the Columbus
tournament and are out to make a big
statement here this year. Made up of mostly
Sophomores and Juniors the reigning
champion Cougars are a very talented
bunch. Led by their senior captains, Michael
Reinhart (6) and Alex Kershenbaum (32), the
Cougars are the team to watch this year.

The Kushner Cobras are entering their 8th
season since their inception in 2007. The
program makes leaps and bounds year after year
and has intilled a sense of pride to these
student-athletes. To be a Cobra means to respect
the game, demonstrate sportsmanship, strive for
excellence both on and off the field, work
towards consistency and committing yourself to
the team. The Cobras know all about winning
championships- they took home the Yeshiva
league titles in 2011 and 2012, as well as
winning the CBI championship in 2013. Thank
you to the CTA community for hosting this
amazing tournament. We hope one day to host
you! "

The Lions will rely on four seniors this season. Avi
Kahn and Orri Benatar will be on the mound and
behind the plate; David Polster will be a wall at 3B,
and David Wolfson will run the middle infield.
Juniors Chad Horwitz and Judah Stein, along with
Sophomores Ioni Wolfson and Noah Ziv, will need to
be big defensively if the Lions look to advance deep
into the tournament. A plethora of young guys will
need to be smart role players and need to step up
when their number is called.

"Our guys love the game and enjoy playing it,"
athletic director Matt Bailey said. "As many seniors
as we have, we are looking forward to a successful
run in CBI 2015. We're a Senior-dominated team
and these guys have plenty of experience. I really
believe we have the offense and speed on the
basepaths, but we HAVE to play solid, smart
defense. You can't beat yourselves”.

The TABC Storm is looking forward to an exciting
year both in league play and at the Columbus
tournament. The roster features many Juniors
and Seniors that should provide the Storm with
much needed leadership and experience. The
pitching staff appears to be deeper than last
year which should be a plus for this team. The
hitting on this year’s team also seems to be
greatly improved. Go Storm.

The Heschel High School of New York City is a
small Jewish day school with fewer than 300
students. We compete in the Metropolitan Yeshiva
High School Athletic League. We do not have our
own field and can only practice 2 or 3 times a
week. The team mostly practices in our gym.
Despite the lack of outdoor facilities and practice
time, our young and inexperienced team has
reach down deep and, are determined to have a
good season. This will be Heschel’s first time going
to the CBI tournament and our coaches and
players are looking forward to a great experience.

The Shalhevet Firehawks are proud to return to the
CBI Tournament for the second time. The Firehawks
have fielded a team since the early 2000’s and have
been one of Shalhevet’s most successful teams. In
2005, they made it to the CIF Southern Section
semi-finals, the school’s first sports team to make it
that far. With our seniors away on their senior trip
(The Poland-Israel Experience), our juniors have
stepped up to take on leadership roles. This year the
Firehawks beat the YULA Panthers for the first time
in 7 years! Led by the talented Coach Ryan Coleman,
this team has continued to improve throughout the
season and will be strong opponents during the CBI
Tournament. Go Firehawks!!
