Hello and Welcome to all our customers,
old and new. This year’s magazine is in
a new style and has grown to become a
bi-annual Group Publication instead of a
quarterly newsletter.
I am the Chairman and Group Managing
Director and have worked at Startins
since 1974 having started full time as a
Junior Salesman after working as a car
cleaner in the school holidays.
I was involved in a Management Buyout
in 1987 and as they say, “the rest is
history”! It is now thirty eight years since
I started at Startins and I am still
as excited about the future of the
company as I was about my own
future at that time.
A lot has happened again last year and
there seems no let up going forward.
We have successfully built a fantastic
extension in the form of a Kia Dealership
at Redditch, which I think makes the site

A Very Appealing Civic

Honda has very recently launched a brand new engine for its New Civic. It’s a 1.6 Turbo Diesel.
This particular engine is the culmination of many years of hard toil within the Honda Research and
Development department. This engine, titled ‘My Earth Dreams Technology’ (remember the Honda
Formula one car with ‘My Earth Dreams’ on it), is the first of the road going developments from that era.
What does this mean for us as car owners? In short, Honda has produced the lightest Diesel engine for
its class. It has remarkably low internal friction similar to a petrol engine which contributes to outstanding
refinement and drives superbly. The road tax is free and it’s also London Congestion Charge exempt due
to the very low CO2 output (96gCO2/Km) and a staggering 78.5 mpg!
We’ve achieved 75mpg in our demonstrator which hasn’t even been run in yet! Forgive the ‘techy’
interlude - the power is an impressive 120ps with torque at 300Nm. If you want out and out grunt then
the 2.2lt Diesel option still rules with 350Nm of torque and 150ps but as a balanced performer you
really should consider test driving the new Civic. We have one on the demonstrator fleet and we’d love
to hear your evaluation on the car. Come down to the Honda dealership in Worcester and see just how
impressive the new Civic is.

Do you know which car won S.U.V.

You would be forgiven if you thought the Honda CR-V which created the sector in 1997
was the obvious choice. Indeed the Skoda Yeti was well worth a shout… It may (it shouldn’t) come as a

Service… How do you budget for that annual service?
Across our group we now offer service plans. These are a simple cost effective way of spreading the costs
of the annual service. These are fully endorsed and managed by our represented manufacturers and from
as little as £12.50 per month you can plan and schedule your vehicles servicing for the term you select.
