Establishedin1992,EtchedImageshasearnedareputationforhighqualitydesignexecution,workmanship and service. 1992 also marked the year we introduced our innovative dipping wax, NoChip Dip®.
Anotherearlyinnovation,developedbyDavidLincoln,wasaprocessforblackeningbottles.Simulatinga
fullbottleofredwine,ablackenedbottleisacost-effectivemarketingtool.

Everystepofthewinebottleetchingandpaintingprocessvariesonthecomplexityofagivenwinelabel.
Thereismorethanonewaytoreplicateawinelabelfromsimple(lowercost),tocomplex(highercost),
toverycomplex(highestcost).That’swhyitisimportantforustogetafeelforyourbudgetbeforeproducingacostquotation.
Somegeneralinformation:
The initial artwork setup is $245 for the front label, $275 for both front and back. Future artwork retrieval(tochangealabel’svintage,forinstance)is$50.

ApplyingNoChipDip®:
WhenusingNoChipDip®,heatthewaxtoatemperatureof380°F.Wehavefoundthatthetemperaturethat
worksbestforusis350°F.Thehigherthetemperature,thethinnerthewaxbecomes.Ifthewaxismelted
at400°Forhigher,thewaxtendstocrackmorefrequently.Werecommendthetemperaturebekeptat300
–350degreesdependingonhowmuchwaxisinthepotandontheenvironmentofwherethewaxdipping
isbeingdone.
DONOTmixNoChipDipandLowTempDipwaxtogetherbecausetheyarechemicallyincompatible.
Whenmeltingyourfirstbatch,youmaynoticequiteafewbubblesonthesurfaceofthewax.Thisisnormal,duetothehighmoisturecontent.Toremovebubbles,lightlyskimsurfacewithanyutensil.Donotstir
thewax,asthiswillcreatemorebubbles.Oncethebubbleshavedissipated,youmaythenstarttowaxyour
bottles.
Afterdippingthebottleinthewax,lettheexcesswaxdripoffbottlebeforeturningupright.Tosetthe
“wax,” dipthebottleintocoldwaterimmediately.
RemovingtheWax:
Removingthewaxcanbedoneinseveralways:
1. Insert corkscrew directly through wax into cork. Pull cork up to break wax seal, remove cork and
pourwine.
2. Apply“teartape”aroundneckofbottlepriortowaxing,leavingasmallpull-tabtousefor“unraveling”thetape,toremovethewax.Youcanpurchaseteartapebytheroll.
WhatShouldIUsetoMelttheWax?
Anycontainer,withanadjustablethermostat,thatcan
maintain a consistent temperature for two or more
hours. It takes approximately two hours to melt the
wax.

ApplyingLowTempDip®:
WhenusingLowTempwax,heatthewaxtoatemperatureof225°Ftomelt.Wehavefoundthatthetemperaturethatworksbestforusis200°F.Thehigherthetemperature,thethinnerthewaxbecomes.Ifthe
waxismeltedat250°Forhigher,thewaxtendstocrackmorefrequently.Werecommendthetemperature
bekeptat200–225degreesdependingonhowmuchwaxisinthepotandontheenvironmentofwhere
thewaxdippingisbeingdone.
Whenmeltingyourfirstbatch,youmaynoticequiteafewbubblesonthesurfaceofthewax.Thisisnormal,duetothehighmoisturecontent.Toremovebubbles,lightlyskimsurfacewithanyutensil.Donot
stirthewax,asthiswillcreatemorebubbles.Oncethebubbleshavedissipated,youmaythenstartto
waxyourbottles.
