Glimpses of SES 2015
TECHNOLOGY SESSIONS
Earlier editions of Strategic Electronic Summits demonstrated great
interest and opportunity that the industry saw in the Strategic Electronics
sector and participated wholeheartedly. Deliberations and discussions
were intense and passionate between all stakeholders.
SES in the past years has always been a grand success with the support &
participation of leading organisations
India's Defence spending will total approximately $150 billion in the next
few years. Offset obligations under the DPP could become an
opportunity worth $10 billion to $20 billion by 2020 (in real terms, using
constant 2010 prices) for the domestic industry, based on the current
order pipeline. Out of this, $2 billion to $4 billion are estimated to be for
engineering services and $4 billion to $6 billion for components. Current
market for Strategic Electronics is estimated at approximately US$ 4
Billion and growing at 12-15% per annum..
Defence PSUs and Ordnance Factories outsource about 20–25% of
their production to the private sector. Out of this outsourcing, about a
quarter is met through the small–scale sector. It is estimated that over
6000 SMEs operate in this space supplying components and
sub–assemblies to the DPSUs, Ordnance Factories, and DRDO.

About Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA)
ELCINA was established in 1967 as the first industry association supporting electronics hardware, when
India's Electronics industry was still in its infancy. Since then, ELCINA has established itself as an
interactive forum for electronics and IT manufacturers. ELCINA actively interacts with the government and
advises it on policy and business environment issues. It networks with technical institutions and business
support organisations in India and abroad to enable business expansion and information dissemination on
technical developments.
ELCINA believes that the Government and the industry need to work together to stimulate manufacturing
and catalyse the growth of ESDM sector that can contribute significantly to the development of India.
ELCINA persistently works to facilitate changes that would strengthen India's electronics and IT
manufacturing base to make it a leader on the world electronics map.
Our focus is to support the entire value chain for Strategic Electronics, Consumer Electronics, Telecom and
Computers/ IT correlating their common interest with that of equipment, components, material and
machinery producers for expansion of manufacturing
