Entry Criteria
• A qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds) gained within the last 5
years in Auto Electrical or similar
• A minimum of 2 years continuous employment immediately
prior to application
• Current & appropriate public liability and minimum of £5
million product liability/ defective workmanship liability
insurance
Route to accreditation
• Complete required core training modules (Home Study
Course 9 months limit) :
o MESF Certificate 1 – Basic Installation
o FCS1362
• Pass the associated exams
• Live audit of work quality and conformance to FCS1362
• On going training requirement (repeat or specialist)

MESF Certificate 1
Certificate 1 – Basic Installation
Provides a solid foundation in electrical theory
and application. Effectively a refresher and test
of underpinning knowledge, the elements
covered are essential to anyone working on
electrical installation.
Certificate 2 - FITAS
•Developed by FCS and MESF specially for the
FITAS scheme
•Provides the theory and practical knowledge
of best practice in line with the UK code of
practice FCS1362.
Accreditation under FITAS is based upon
successful completion of this certificate
