For a detailed listing visit portlandartwalk.org Unvieling the American Dream Public Art Installation Come celebrate TEMPOart's first public art installation, American Dream by Judith Hoffman, on First Friday: June 3, from 5:00-8:00pm at Lincoln Park at Congress and Franklin Streets. Ribbon cutting and remarks by artist and curator at 6:00. Japanese street food from the Mami Food Truck and music by Island Beats until 8:00. Hoffman’s striking, 14-foot tall steel temporary sculptural installation, composed of stacked and inverted houses, prompts a reimagination of evolving Franklin Street and historic Lincoln Park and what the idea of HOME means to our diverse community. TEMPOart is Portland, Maine’s new temporary public art program that will bring curated, sitespecific artworks that explore the theme of Places in Transition to Portland’s public spaces. With a goal to enliven key neighborhoods and urban sites, TEMPOart will encourage residents and visitors alike to engage with a changing array of exciting and innovative installations. TEMPOart will commission new works from emerging and established artists, and will foster artistic freedom and innovation. The temporary projects will provide a critical complement to Portland’s longstanding, permanent public art program, enhancing the city’s growth as a creative hub. Judith Hoffman, concept rendering Lincoln Park at Congress + Franklin Streets Port Fringe Theater Festival Please join us as we kick off our fifth birthday month by presenting metro(ACT)ive — a mobile public performance art project taking place as part of the June First Friday Art Walk on Friday June 3, 2016. Be on the lookout for a fleet of two-dimensional/cardboard metro buses moving through the Arts District corridor, pausing at actual Metro bus stops to present spontaneous and brief bus-themed performance art, and promote the upcoming PortFringe festival (taking place June 18-16, 2016). Interact with PortFringe Artists, grab a festival schedule and limited-edition metro(ACT)ive button and even climb aboard and join us on the route! Schedule Shared Conversations PortFringe will have a booth set up at Congress Square Park from 6:00PM-7:30PM, but here are the places you can interact with the mobile metro(ACT)ive performance art exhibit! The last six months they have focused on the intersections in their thinking and how they play off of each other in their work. They each visit the other over the course of the day. They share conversations... They go back to making.
