of Converse Eyewear
& Unveils Limited Edition Styles

To celebrate a quarter century of quality
eyewear, Converse unveils a collection of
limited edition styles designed with a retro
mindset. With a production run of just 250
each, the classic square optical frames and
sunglasses are available in six evocative
color combinations.
“Before designing the limited-edition
collection, I spent time reflecting on the
history of Converse and the evolution of
the iconic brand. I wanted to dig back into
our heritage,” said REM Eyewear Creative
Director Nicolas Roseillier. “The anniversary
collection tells the story of our rebellious
roots with a modern spin.”

Giving Back To
Those In Need
This year, REM Eyewear donated more
than 1,000 optical frames to Feed the
Children, a non-profit organization
assisting residents affected by devastating
natural disasters.
Led by Mike Hundert, REM Eyewear CEO
and Don Alecock, REM Eyewear Vice
President of Operations, the donation
is an example of REM’s commitment
to supporting those in need. In 2012
alone, the eyewear leader donated more
than 575 volunteer hours to six local
organizations including The Tree People
and Heal the Bay. REM also gave more
than $1 million dollars, including in-kind
donations, to 19 nonprofits worldwide.
REM’S Family Spotlight
Zhaneta joined REM two years ago
in the Solutions Department and
immediately felt at home. A native
Armenian speaker, Zhaneta worried
about communicating with her
colleagues but was instead welcomed
into a warm and friendly environment.
She enjoyed her new co-workers so
much that she couldn’t wait to share
REM with her two daughters.

introducing my daughters to the

Ani and Ruzanna eagerly joined their
mother in the REM family. Both young

lighter than most metals and 1/3 stronger

Tales from Rio, Brazil
REM Eyewear President, Steve Horowitz,
recently visited Rio de Janeiro in the
beautiful country of Brazil to assess
the eyewear biz landscape. He found
the market to be very promising, but
not easy. Here are notes from his
whirlwind tour of the land of sunshine and
celebrations.
TUMI: Few know the name TUMI but
that doesn’t stop them from loving
the frames. Everyone who viewed the
collection thought the frames were
great.
Converse: Huge Converse market!
Very high brand recognition and
excellent opportunity to expand.
Brazil is the 6th largest economy in
the world and in the last 12 months
we have opened several hundred
Converse accounts.
