A Sponsored Ministry of the Sisters of Mercy
Annual Report 2013-14
Dear Mercyhurst Prep Family & Friends,
Dear MPS Family,
You continue to amaze us! We cannot thank you
enough for your wise investment in our most valuable
asset - each Mercyhurst Prep student. Besides making
our signature education available to deserving students,
many donors also help us focus on the future of MPS
by investing in the space our students need to imagine
their futures.
You have such big hearts! Thanks to each of you,
Mercyhurst Prep continues to grow and find new ways
to provide students with unparalleled preparation for
life. Those of you listed on these pages have helped to
make an outstanding education available to deserving
students. Your involvement with MPS helps change
each of their lives for the better.
A great example of that is our anonymous donor from the Class of 1970
whose generous gift allowed us to paint and carpet our chapel and purchase
new furniture and carpet for Campus Ministry as well as new seating for our
guidance offices.
We are immensely grateful whether your donation takes the form of
volunteer time, pro-bono services, in-kind gifts or a check. Your generosity
is significant in helping Mercyhurst Prep maintain our status as the region’s
finest school: a place where the unique interests and talents of each student
are embraced, encouraged and respected by a welcoming, compassionate
MPS family.
We hope you enjoy this calendar as a yearlong reminder of how happy we
are to have you as part of our ever-expanding MPS Family.
Yours in Mercy,
This year our Annual Report is a calendar to keep in your home or office
as a yearlong reminder of how important you are to us. Please enjoy the
pictures of life at MPS. Thanks to your help, our current students are
making memories that will last a lifetime. We have included the big MPS
dates like Laker Day, the Laker Legends Scholarship Gala and the Black
Friday Bash. We hope it will remind you to join us!
Thank you for allowing Mercyhurst Prep to be part of your life story.
We look forward to working together as we write the next chapter.
God bless you!

International Baccalaureate is a philosophy of education that
values critical thought and relative thinking: accessible on all
levels, not just the next tier of difficulty above honors. Our IB
students surpassed the National SAT average by more than
330 points.

AREA BUSINESSES
PROVIDE NEARLY A
THIRD OF ALL MPS
SCHOLARSHIPS THIS YEAR
THROUGH TAX CREDITS!
Pennsylvania businesses have the
unique ability to send their state
business tax dollars to MPS for
scholarships instead of sending them
to Harrisburg. Thanks to the following
businesses, 7 deserving students were
offered full scholarships and hundreds
received partial scholarships.
Thank you to the businesses that
donated through the Educational
Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and the
Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit
(OSTC) programs in 2013-2014,
providing nearly $300,000 worth of
scholarships for our MPS students.
These business owners are changing
lives!
“Their donation to the program
that allows me to attend MPS is much
appreciated and I would want to do the
same by donating for deserving students
that could not attend MPS without aid,
when I graduate from college and am
financially able to donate.”
Tyler Jones, MPS ‘16
For more information on EITC and
OSTC tax credits, please contact Lisa
