of the River and Folly Bridge. From the river we take
in a side of Oxford's heritage rarely seen by visitors
to the city. Quaint Osney Island, well-loved
allotments and gardens and majestic and ancient
Port Meadow are off the tourist trail but represent
some of Oxford's most beautiful and intriguing
scenery. Port Meadow, a vast area of common land,
has remained little changed since prehistoric times
and supports plants and bird-life in abundance. At
the top of Port Meadow is Godstow. Godstow was
the ultimate destination of Alice Liddell and Lewis
Carroll when they followed an identical route to our
trip while composing 'Alice's Adventures in
Wonderland'. It is also the site of Trout Island, an
inspiration for another of Oxfords literary icons, C S
Lewis, and his stories of the land of Narnia. Your
picnic lunch is provided by riverside restaurant, The
Folly, and typically includes (exact contents may
differ and depend on availability):

SISTER ACT, CLIFFS
PAVILION
The habits have hit the road again! The Broadway
and West End smash hit musical comedy returns to
the UK with a brand new production. Directed and
choreographed by CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD, Sister
Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy based on
the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and
Maggie Smith. Featuring original music by Alan
Menken, dazzling dance routines and songs inspired
by Motown, soul and disco. Sister Act tells the story
of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a
surprising turn when she witnesses a murder.
Under protective custody she is hidden in the one
place she won’t be found – a Convent! Disguised
as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother
Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their
voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.
A sparkling tribute to the universal power of
friendship, sisterhood and music.

SALISBURY CHRISTMAS
MARKET
Salisbury Christmas Market is inspired by the best of
traditional European Christmas Markets, but will also
have something very British about it too. The
exhibitors and caterers will be among the best in
this country and all will have been especially
selected for the very high quality of their products,
and the stylish way in which they present their
chalets. An important feature of the Salisbury
Christmas Market is that the majority of the goods
being sold will have been produced in Britain. From
designer crafts to Christmas decorations and all
kinds of unusual and tasteful gifts, the emphasis will
be very much on unique and desirable gifts, food
and drink, most of which will be supporting our own
home economy. Needless to say no Christmas
Market would be complete without the seasonal
Gluhwein (mulled wine), Bratwurst (German
sausage), Stollen and Lebkuchen (gingerbread) as
well as our many delicious English specialities, and
this Christmas Market will certainly be no exception!
