The Road To Recovery Based on the Beatitudes
The Road To Recovery
Based on the Beatitudes
Realize I’m not God: I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the
wrong thing and my life is unmanageable. (Step 1)
“Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor.” Matthew 5:3
Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power
to help me recover. (Step 2)
“Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Mathew 5:4
Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.
(Step3)
“Happy are the meek.” Matthew 5:5
Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
(Steps 4 & 5)
“Happy are the pure in heart.” Matthew 5:8
Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask
Him to remove my character defects. (Steps 6 & 7)
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.” Matthew 5:6
Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and
make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm
them or others. (Steps 8 & 9)
“Happy are the merciful.” “Happy are the peacemakers.” Matthew 5:7, 9
Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible
reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my
life and to gain the power to follow His will. (Steps 10 & 11)
Yield myself to God to be used to bring
this Good News to others, both by my
example and by my words. (Step 12)
“Happy are those who are persecuted
because they do what God requires.”
Matthew 5:10

This shop is a tribute to my father, who retired early from his career as
a university professor to enjoy life. Dad was an avid art collector. He was
not only a visitor of art shows, festivals, galleries and shops, but also
instrumental in the founding of Kent Ohio’s Art in the Park, sat on the
boards of area art councils, and acted as an art critic and judge for art
events. I know he would like my shop.

Dear Supporters,
Nine years ago, Harborside Christian Church stepped out in faith
to establish a Celebrate Recovery (CR) program as part of the
Care Ministries. Today, we are recognized as the place to bring

At the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, you’ll find caring staff members,
new friends, and a warm and friendly environment that supports you and

The original fish house at the Dunedin Marina was a wooden shack
with a loading dock, where local commercial fishermen unloaded
millions of pounds of Florida seafood in the 1930s. Our family bought
the fish company in 1971 with the intent to deliver the best and
freshest bounty of the Gulf to our community.
The Dunedin Marina sits on the west end of Main Street, next to
Edgewater Park, a popular destination for both locals and tourists,
who enjoy walking along the docks among the yachts, sailboats,
commercial fishing boats, and charters or visiting the nearby public
pier to take in breathtaking sunsets.

Our greatest victories are viewed as rebuilding lives for those
who struggle with addictions of all types including food and
pornography, and issues such as codependency, anger management, and abuse as a child or adult. What people often don’t
realize is we really only have one reason for our struggles -- a
sinful nature we inherited or were victims of, not chose. CR
helps grow relationships with Christ to combat our sinful natures
from taking enough of a hold to make us suffer from troubles
that we can give to Him instead.
His program helps us appreciate the grace of freedom that
comes from understanding the recovery process, and from the
tools He gives us for loving relationships with others and with
Jesus, our true higher power.
We thank all of you for attending this fund raiser which will help
establish the resources necessary to field this year’s CR Leadership team by sending them to the yearly Saddleback Church’s CR
Summit at Spartanburg, SC. There, they will be greatly inspired
and learn how to make the CR program succeed here at Harborside.
Thank you for your generous donation:
20lbs. of Bar Jack Fish
Remember, CR is for everyone who sins or was a victim of sin. It
helps everyone deal with their individual challenges as it refines
your skills in having that essential relationship with Jesus Christ.
