A FAMILY OF TEACHERS AND LEARNERS
A FAMILY OF TEACHERS AND LEARNERS
When asked what separates Mass Elite program from the other programs in New England,
the single biggest difference in the quality of TEACHERS in our basketball family – not
exclusively teachers in the classroom but educated, passionate, hardworking and
knowledgeable people who teach young men not only to be outstanding on the basketball
court but also in everyday life. “We Teach” a lot here at Mass Elite, constantly teaching not
only how to play the game of basketball but how to be a good person.
Looking back at our young adult lives, we were all shaped by the people who “taught us”.
It’s the people who taught us humility, generosity, respect, courage, compassion and the
ability to overcome incredible odds that allow us to grow and evolve as human beings.
Think back at the teachers, coaches and family members who TAUGHT YOU valuable life
lessons and skills that you have carried with you throughout your entire life.
Mass Elite’s mission is to teach the student-athletes in our basketball family not only
important basketball skills but also the tools necessary to be a good person. There is so
much more in life then basketball – although the sport is a great way to learn valuable life
lessons. Successful people typically share the same qualities – these being Smart, Hard
Working, Level-Headed most importantly being Relentless in their pursuit of excellence. All
these attributes cab be effectively TAUGHT on the basketball court, especially with the help
and leadership of a good TEACHER.
Good teachers are in short supply. Many people are too shortsighted and lack the patience
necessary to instill good habits in others. In school, our best teachers were not those that
we feared but instead those that we respected and wanted to emulate. Yelling can produce
short term results but in the long run it’s not a good recipe for success. Students are only as
good as their teachers. In life it’s seeing others DO RIGHT that make you learn to DO
RIGHT. Lessons are taught through experience, including experiencing success and keeping
you head up through failures. How do you learn to win close games unless you at some
point lose a couple. Good teachers are able to TEACH that it’s ok to lose before you win.
